Morey mentioned sign and trade possibilities this offseason and we know he has been coveting Amare for awhile. But if you moved Brooks and picks for Amare what happens with Scola that Morey guaranteed would be resigned?

It is, Aaron has proven he can hold his own by leading the team up to this point in the season.

I believe Bosh is higher on the list of a sign & trade

Why would you say Amare would ruin it?

Problem is Amare is available and Bosh may not be. Bosh IMO would be the better fit because he could slide over to Center and Scola could get some minutes with him. I suppose Amare could too he and Bosh are Both 6'10'' 245, somehow Bosh seems bigger...

How about a Scola sign and trade with picks for Amare/Bosh? Then Hill could see some minutes.

[Stein]Morey Just Can't Get Enough. He tried to acquire Amare at the deadline

@STEIN_LINE_HQ Just filed to ESPN.com: Houston indeed the team that engaged in 11th-hour discussions with Suns on Amare deal. New link/details forthcoming.

Wow. While some guys thrashing Morey before the deadline beacuse they think we just get Kev Mart for Mac&Landry, is Morey was working his ass off to get a top guy here in Houston. Props dude, you're gonna be legendary in here.

Can't wait for story. I think Kerr was ready to give Amare for Cook to our magician, but unfortunately Morey was so busy with slapping Walsh's ass to get Amare

    Doubt it's Brooks.

Probably our expirings, draft picks, Scola or Hill. Bring Hill back to Arizona.

Yeah - if we had a GM who wanted to screw us.

On the other hand, the deal was more probably Cook + Scola + Hayes or something like that - all expirings.

i wonder what the pricetag on walsh's head would be if we swung a deal in the offseason for one of the top free agents new york was targeting in a sign and trade using their own picks and hill...man that would be funny

If we could have unloaded Cook for Amare then it would have been fine. :)

    Yep.

If it was Brooks it would have been too much to lose Brooks and Landry...even though we get Martin+Amar'e back...it's like you are just replacing what you had with bigger names and bigger contracts.

The proposed deal, sources with knowledge of the talks confirmed, had Phoenix receiving veterans Shane Battier and Luis Scola, multiple draft picks and the expiring contract of Brian Cook for Stoudemire.
