Would the Rockets have to pay a high one year salary for assistant coaches due to the failed MDA extension?

    Well.... that is the rub.

How do you explain to MDA that an associate head coach is going to get a multi year at an amount close to what MDA is making?

Would make you possibly reconsider giving MDA an extension or possibly looking for someone else to coach your team.

They want MDA as their head coach but they want him to play ball with them.

If Tillman wants to fire D'antoni he just needs to do it. This beating around the bush junk is just r****ded. This whole low balling contracts is what is scaring assistant coaches away. Not the uncertainty of D'Antoni. D'Antoni is also not going to leave money on the table and quit. He's not dumb. Tillman is really making me miss Les and that is not good at all.

You might miss out on big names, but you'll never miss out on the hungry coaches if you expand your list and you truly listen to the list of candidates.

MDmA ain't young. He's a calm guy that ain't gonna panic. Don't worry about him. Worry about his patience while looking for assistants, worry about how they'll act as a cohesive unit once they're all together, think about innovative minds being part of the team, but don't worry about the assistant's stability. What a load of crap. What assistant believes they're an immovable entity? Yeah.. no one we want.

Assistants are probably better when they think they could lose their job if they don't do well.
