Don't mess with a man who plays the piano :D I agree with Gater ! Landry is not worth the full MLE !! This is sad news to me as I Believe the Rockets are one player away via Artest, Miller, Maggette !! But Going back to battle with the same team hopeing your in the top of the West then trading for a monster player is just foolish !! With getting a PROVEN FA at least you know what they can do before you get them. We have no clue if Landry is going to be a Monster in this league, hey he might but then he might not ! Its a chance that looks like Morey wants to take. Now saying " we are going to trade at the deadline when players are cheaper " is a huge mistake. Morey might as well save some money and go to a palm reader ask her if the Rockets are going to be in the playoff hunt and healthy by the trade deadline......Man and I have been checking this sight everyday for trade news.....It could be a long summer :(

Source? You've said this several times. I remember Van Gundy saying he stays out of draft decisions, but I don't remember him attributing Battier to Morey at all.

Even if he did, Van Gundy LOVED Battier and was fighting for his job just before he left. It wouldn't have been a bad idea for JVG to endear himself to his new GM.

Edit: Quote from Van Gundy following draft night:
    Source.

Unless Dawson and Lindsey only dealt with the monumental drafting of Lior Eliyahu, Van Gundy is indicating that the Rudy Gay deal was not "all Morey." There's no other way to read that.

even the mere suggestion of Landry for Pietrus makes me want to puke.

hoestly Gater what is it about Mickael that makes you think moving Hayes to PF and bringing in MP for Landry is a good idea.

Pietrus has shown me nothing but inconsistency. His upside is nowhere nearly Landry's.

im in favor of standing pat as far as Landry goes - he is going to be a beast.

Pietrus has already peaked as a role player.

Battier and Pietrus play a fairly similar role, and I certainly dont want to swap Shane for Pietrus....

we have no place for Golden State's sloppy seconds.

It is very amusing to me to see all of these 'NBA GMs' posting in here this summer. Saying what the Rockets should and should not do with their team and players.

During the season when Landry was balling I bet all of you were riding him then..... Now you don't want him? We will not use the full MLE to resign him, we will have to use some of it (maybe most). That is fine. He is a young talent that fits our team, it is worth paying a lil bit to keep him and develop him. He got some rookie of the year consideration if im not mistaken.

I trust in Morey and his plan. NONE of you know what he has in mind for this summer. Instead of guessing why don't you wait and see what unfolds this summer. If we have to wait until the trade deadline, so be it. That is better for us.

Our team was fine when we won 22 in a row wasn't it? You were all loving that. Now all of a sudden we need wholesale changes? Get the F*** outta here. The ONLY reason we did not make it past Utah is because Yao was not playing. Two years ago we did not have a good supporting cast or offensive system, this year we got a better offense and supporting cast but Yao got hurt at the wrong time.

Next year I see it ALL coming together. Morey will get us another player to come off the bench, maybe this summer or maybe at trade deadline, but he will.

I think it was one of those NYC radio interviews JVG did. I think he said that Morey brought up the idea, and he and Les signed off on it - though Les thought they could get a little more.

    (1) Being a fan of Shane Battier does not mean you agree with everything John Hollinger says (Chronicle writers Jonathan Feigen and Fran Blinebury immediately come to mind).
    (2) Hollinger has never said that Rudy Gay is "well ahead" of Shane Battier as an overall player. His PER rankings summarize box score stats, and primarily offensive contribution.

What's the fun of having a forum, if everyone just longs on and says RahRah go Rockets. Forums are for debates. Playing GM, making up trades and talking about the draft is what's fun about sport forums.

So many non thinking posters on this subject!!!!!!
Firstly Morey is the 'Wizard' and a clever one at that with a touch of the 'foxey' !!
Secondly the General Manager Manager doesn't tell the whole world what his plans are.
Thirdly I expect Morey to continue to make mistakes and at the same time shock us with moves which at first we don't like but which will help the team a lot :p
Potential for trades Head, Jackson, Hayes, Francis, Brooks, Woods and Harris.
Together with any of the following Landry, Battier, Alston and even T Mac.
The only safe players are possibly Yao and Scola :p

Didn't we trade a bunch of no-names (Michael Dickerson) for Steve Francis? I'm sure we can package quantity/(expiring contracts) for quality....It happens all the time....

I wouldn't think it more than a rumor but given today's Chronicle article about Joe Dumars apparent angered perspective at the moment... who knows?? Detroit may be making the call -- not the Rockets.

Yeah I know what you mean, guess I just started reading some of the more ridiculous posts and had to say something. We are all fans and just want to see OUR team get better and win it all again. This will probably be a quiet summer so I guess I better get used to the Morey bashing and ridiculous trade ideas that are to come. My bad. continue on...

It was just something I overheard on the radio . Joe Dumars was quoted as saying he would like to have T-Mac . Theres no real source , just speculation .
