He's got range, he's got a few moves, of course he can dunk and block shots. Looks like someone that might be worth taking a chance on.
I like him and would definitely take him if hes there. Can play both positions. We might have to move up in order to get him though.
Like another poster already said he's not projected to be in the top 10 by most mocks. Plus look at the teams picking 10-13. Indiana Reportedly looking for a point guard replacement and have been linked to Bledsoe and Bradley. They have expressed interest in Gordon Hayward, NBA ready bigs and possibly Henry. New Orleans The hardest team to predict on draft night but after a disappointing season I think they will target a more NBA ready player rather than a project, Whiteside doesn't fit the bill. Toronto Much speculation that they will take Bradley after a solid workout and combine. Memphis They already have Marc Gasol and Hasheem Thabeet, why take another project big?
I think Whiteside will be a great player if he continues to work hard with Hakkem and the vets we have in Houston, I really think that DM is on him, and will draft him given the chance the problem is Toronto, I bet that he will be picked by Toronto, because they need a true C, and if that happens our backup C for now, and a Yao replacement for the future is still nowhere to be seen For those of you that say that we should pick the player that has the most production right now, without looking to the weaknesses we have, i will say you have a valid point, put given the circumstances i think Whiteside, even if his offensive game doesn´t go up as high as it should and can, he will be defensive player of the year threat every year against Howard, because his presence on the defensive end, even in the NBA will be noticed, and that, right now, and over the years is what we need, just look at Perkins. Even if he is not THE BEST, the guy is big, knows to do a hard foul when needed, has heart, and he was crucial to neutralize Dhoward, specially on those 3 first games I like Whiteside, just hope that Toronto thinks easy, and pick a guy more developed and prepared to NBA right now, but weaker in the long run. Some will say that I am overrating this guy, no problem, I am not his agent, I don´t benefit nothing from saying good things about him, but I am hight on him, that will make me and people that appreciate his talent critic him even harder if he starts being lazy, I am not a players lover/fan, I am a talent/work lover. Not a talent expert but for me Whiteside will be big in this league With the 14th pick of the 2010 NBA draft the Houston Rockets select ...... Hassan Whiteside
Article is from poopsworld, which I though was blocked for being a garbage site. Article doesn't say ANYTHING about The Rockets even looking at Whiteside. It doesn't in any way show that Morey has interest in Stro part 2.
I don't think he ever commits to one strategy. I don't think even the worst teams make that mistake. Except NY. .
This article says nothing about the rockets interest. It's just piggybacking off the common belief that Whiteside will go late in the lottery and that the rockets need a big man.
I gotta admit, I really like this kid's upside. He can do so many things and he looks fluid doing them. If Hakeem approves then he must have untapped potential. I would be curious to see what Morey's numbers have crunched regarding him.
morey has said before that he looks at blocks, steals and rebounds as signs that a player and physically dominate the college level. players who doinate those stats usually transfer their games well to the nba. look at adam morrison's 28ppg in college as the opposite of this. usually i take anything i read before the draft with a grain of salt because of all the smoke screens... but i know morey has an interest in a guy who got over 5 blocks per game.
when morey said that he looks at blocks, steals, and rebounds as indicators for pro success i believed him. maybe you didnt.
I like the idea of getting Whiteside and love Dream, but he has kind/encouraging words to say about everyone. His public statements about the kid really don't tell us much one way or the other.
Bingo....and the article never says exactly what Dream approved...it could be refering to anything. It's far fetched to assume Dream approved him as a future star or something like that...
He will be a Mutombo-like player( for defensive purposes mostly ) and avg. anywhere from 11-12 pts. a game. That would be all we need at this point. Lets get him.
If the Rockets can get him at 14, this is a worthy risk to take, because of what you get if he does work out. Good centers are hard to come by. Even if he just becomes a serviceable defensive player, that's a lot at that position. To achieve greatness, you need to take a few well-calculated risks and have a little luck. I think at 14, with Yao well into his career and the team strong at every position, this is the way to go.
Getting Brad Miller with the MLE would lessen the risk considerably if they were to draft someone like Whiteside.
