Shawn Kemp was at the playground down the street from me about a week ago. Its hammerly park over here in spring branch. I played one game against his team and that guy is fat but he can still jump pretty high. He was driving this dodge magnum on 20's.

Even if he's back in shape, there's no doubt Kemp's lost the explosiveness that made him a great player, and he's most likely lost all the skills that made him a decent player.

If it were say, Charles losing weight and coming back to win a ring, I'd do it just for the comedic value. But Shawn Kemp? Pass.

Doesn't matter to me. Kemp commands more respect than Bowen or Spoon.

So what are the realistic chances here of...

    1. Shawn Kemp reclaiming greatness

    -or-

    2. Vin Baker reclaiming greatness

Or the better question is: Who will be a more productive player next season on whichever teams they are on?

I say we make a trade.

    Houston Trade Breakdown
    Outgoing
    Vin Baker
    6-11 PF from Drug rehab
    0.7 ppg, 0.7 rpg, 0.3 apg in 4.3 minutes
    Incoming
    Shawn Kemp
6-9 PF from The drunk tank
    2.4 pregnacys/season, 4.3 arrests/season, 32.6 dunken binges/season in 1.5 minutes/game
Change in team outlook: none, other than the embarasing harasment from opposing teams fans, he ain't gonna see the floor.

    Local Bars and Liquor stores
    Outgoing
    Shawn Kemp
6-9 PF from The drunk tank
lost sales of 13 cases of Shaffer light/week and 25 cheesebugers/week
    Incoming
    Vin Baker
    6-11 PF from Drug Rehab
    increased sales in MD20/20 of 6 cases/week
Change in team outlook: Not much unless Vin decides to get back on coke, with the possible exception of a slight decrease in the number of pregnant chicks at the bar.

THAT'S ALL WE NEED THEN BAKER AND KEMP CAN BE EACH OTHERS SPONSORS, THEN THEY CAN BOTH RELAPSE AND BREAK THEIR CONTRACTS AND WE CAN GET RID OF THEM, IT SEEMS UNECESSARILY COMPLICATED.

So Shawn Kemp kicks it around spring branch area huh? I knew I saw him back when I worked at bestbuy...hmmm.

Honestly though, just because he lives in houston, doesn't mean the rockets will give him a look. I bet he doesn't even get to workout at the west side tennis club. Hence the hammerly park pick up games.

I'd rather have us try to get stoudamire and cut crap contracts than give this guy another chance. Let some other team entertain the idea, not us.

    Beat me to it.

Kemp is the fat crackhead and Vin is the drunk.

ok if we get rid of weatherspoons contract during a trade i think we bring in Kemp. Just for the reason to see them at the bars together and the pics of them on the board. And maybe right after Yao gets a Tat and Sura leads the league in 3's Baker and Kemp can reclaim the glory that got them traded for each other in the mid 90's and lead us to the promise land...

or we can sign Baxter who might get meaningful minutes.

Kemp would be a solid addition to our "All-Washed Up Team" joining the likes of Deke, Howard, Spoon and Vin. Quite a fine collection of has been's there, only catch is Deke and Howard are the only two with a prayer of actually still being useful.

Considering Kemp had more rebounds in less minutes during his last year in Orlando than Stro did last year. I don't think picking him up if he is in shape for the vet min would be a big risk.
