Mo Taylor is a bad man. in the good sense. didn't you all see him light us up recently? he's a scorer and i'd bet that on a better team he'd play harder and get on the boards more. i don't know if walt plus drew would get him or not. if so, pull the trigger. cabbage, mo is a much better player than kandi is, although i would be intrigued if the rockets could get him cheap, and i've read a number of places that kandi is available for almost nothing, and i think drew and walt would be plenty to get him.
http://www.nba.com/playerfile/maurice_taylor.html Check out the video clip of Mo's nasty dunk over our very own Kelvin Cato. Mo's not a great rebounder but he once grabbed 20 boards in one game so you know he's capable of doing it but just needs to concentrate on that part of his game. Maybe some lessons from Mr. Mean Larry Smith could help him out? NBA.com lists him at 6.6 boards per game which isn't bad if you consider Odom and Kandi get 8 boards each. I'd rather start the rebuilding now than have to wait until next summer for a f/a. I don't want to go through the whole will-he-or-won't-he drama like we did with Shandon.
The Rockets would be bettered served to deal Walt and Drew than to hold onto the both of them. Drew should be a backup guard somewhere where they will play him, and Williams is just a drain our cap. If we could get Taylor than we would have some space to go after someone like Rashard Lewis or Ron Mercer, then we draft a big body. If we could pick up Kandi, then we have the center for our future to put Cato at the 4 and we draft a small forward. Either way this deal works out for everyone.
I believe that Brian Grant is still under contract with the Blazers. He might be on the free agent list because he has an opt-out clause for this year in his contract. It was only 2-3 years ago that he signed a 7 yr / $63 mil contract. He'd be better off staying in Portland for $9 mil per and a chance at a championship than he would be with the Rockets, who don't even have $9 mil to sign him.
