giving up battier and brooks for thabeet flynn and a pick would be a terrible deal for Houston. I am going to slam my d**k in a drawer.

Flynn is no where near the shooter Brooks is (though Brooks is doing a damn good job this season making Flynn look like a good shooter) but Flynn plays a bit more physical than Brooks and is more of a passing PG than Brooks (but thats not saying too much both look to shoot the ball first)

To me this would be a lateral move at best Flynn is better than Brooks in some areas while Brooks is a lot better than Flynn in others. It would help the Rockets get under the luxury tax I believe.

At this point even if its a lateral it can provide benefits as Brooks has hurt the team and has hurt team chemistry getting a similar Brooks clone that will accept his role and play harder can help the bench unit out.

I am not enamored with the Flynn/Brooks swap myself but I can understand the reasoning behind it. Flynn was the #5 (or was it #6) pick in a pretty crowded PG draft so he does have some untapped potential there.

I'm straight with Flynn for AB. For Gods sake, have you guys been watching games this season? AB is the modern day version of Moochie Norris.

You are severely underrating Flynn's talent... He is no scrub...

    Flynn career stats
    26 minutes, 11.4 PPG, 4.1 APG, 1.9 RPG on 41% shooting.
    Brooks career stats
    26 minutes, 12.8 PPG, 3.6 APG, 1.9RPG on 41% shooting.

    Jonny Flynn just turned 22.
    Aaron Brooks just turned 26.

This really pisses me off. Look at the all the point guards being swapped. In comparison what th hell is so special about Brooks. He is not injured any more. He has full health and still sucks.

Flynn has been playing much better than Brooks this season despite also having an ankle injury. Not to mention he's playing in an offense that isn't suited for his style of play. Give him a chance.

You're dumber than I thought Brooks. You were told you wouldn't be traded so you could play better but you kept on sucking. Your ass is getting traded!

Ken Berger: The Jonny Flynn deal with Houston involves either Jared Jeffries or Aaron Brooks, sources say. Teams discussing picks, too. Not done (twitter)

Where a guy was drafted does not mean ****. That stops being important the minute he steps on the court.

Brooks >> Flynn and it's not really debatable.

It would be a CLEAR downgrade.. and I will be livid. There has to be more involved than those two.

    Man Morey is getting hammered...

KB reports it's either for Brooks or Jared Jeffries, and that picks are being discussed. This looks like a terrible deal for Daryl Morey from the onset.

We said earlier Jonny Flynn was on the market. Apparently the Rockets, for some bizarre reason, are aiming at getting him according to ESPN. This would surely have to be in conjunction with moving Aaron Brooks for something, otherwise the Rockets are spending assets to acquire a sub-par point guard.

    not looking good...

So, you've never seen him play?

On the perimeter, his lock-down D is mint.

    Geez, LTF. Really?

I shouldn't need to remind you this isn't the Aaron Brooks of last year. Finding somebody to come off the bench and go 2-12 while playing no defense is something Eddie House can do blindfolded.

Flynn was a poor fit in the triangle from the start. He's much better suited playing a PnR based offense or ANYTHING where his burst/athleticism can be better utilized. This kid has the tools to get into the paint whenever he wants. He needs a fresh start.

Would this move rock my world? No. Does it improve us? Probably not. But it's clearly a move for the future and with the type of upside Flynn has it seemingly meets DM's youth + upside + cheap contract criteria (that's been alluded to).

I don't get where you interpret this as him steering waaaayyyy off the path. Unless you're really convinced killing Brooks' value and forcing him to sign a long-term "bargain contract" with us is the way, then I simply don't get it.

Wow, did not know how young Flynn is. I guess he came out as a sophmore? In that case, I can see this like getting TWill. Taking a flyer on a guy not panning out.

I do feel Flynn has the makings of a good floor general though. At least that was his selling point coming out. Considering Brooks likely leave via FA anyway if we want to keep payroll flexible for potential 2012, not a bad deal.

Flynn played a couple of games at d-league this season....anyone know why?

By the way...Flynn is 5'11". Yeah, I'm not sure that's how I want them to go.

Reporter: At 5-11 you are undersized; what are some things that get overlooked about you?

JF: You know size is a big thing in the NBA nowadays, but I just look at it if a guy can play or not. You see guys like Nate Robinson or a guy like Aaron Brooks who dominated the playoffs. If you can play good basketball, that’s really what is going to matter at the end of the day, I’m not trying to use height as something to base my talent off of. But I think my rap sheet at Syracuse and the scouting these teams did on me will tell the story.
