Trust me when I say that it's a great idea. AB barely deserves to be in a NBA rotation right now. He's shooting worse that Rafer without the defense and playmaking abilities. I dont see what's wrong with trading one short pg for another esp when one was a lotto pick recently.
Yes, I've seen him play. He suffered the same problem Brooks does -- he's small, and not especially beefy. He also had the issue that he's 22. Bigger points abuse him, and he was prone to lapses on close outs. The stats from last year bear it out -- the Wolves gave up 115 points per 48 with him on the floor, and 108 without him on the floor. That's a HUGE gap. This year, they give up 111 with him on the floor, and 113 with him off the floor. Most of that could be explained by the fact the guy getting the bulk of point guard minutes (Ridnour) was once accused of being unable to guard a chair.
The love for AB in this forum is pathetic. Dude is playing like a d-leaguer out there, getting Ts left and right, just helping us lose games. I don´t understand, y´all took 1 year of good performance by AB to love him to death, know that he is playing like crap for almost a year (injury in between), people continue to make excuses for him, unbelievable if you ask me. Some of you should do what DD did, stop posting for a while and study the game and actually see what our players do on the court, and stop loving players because you always loved them. I can't emphasize enough that Flynn playing in the triangle was a poor fit from the start. I realize he's been pretty bad so far but I see a lot of athleticism and upside in this kid. Definitely too early to write him off.
Sometimes it's just best to let go. AB is a scrub. He needs a change of scenery in the worst way. His time has been up in Houston for a while. He has cost us games.
Could it be a smaller deal to get a replacement for AB as the backup point, with Brooks being moved in another deal? I could see Flynn as a nice backup for Lowry. Cheap, without the worry of resigning him this summer.
