He's probably very available and a better option than KPJ. He could win starter minutes from Jalen Green this year even though I believe long term Green will be the better player (all star/league leading scorer potential). I am fully expecting a "break out" year from Jalen Green. The main hold up for me would be he seems to have an ego and the contract affecting our cap flexibility going into next offseason. Are we really going to pay Herro and Green 60M+ combined after Green's contract extension (assuming Green earns a max extension)? Probably not. I would say bring him in and increase our talent and if Green breaks out we can trade Herro (or if Green doesn't break out we have Herro), but it looks like the league doesn't have as much interest in Herro as his talent/age should get. Could probably change my opinion though...
The only team in the West last season with more than three guys taller than 6'8" in the rotation was Minnesota.
I hope this is a joke, we are full of combo guards/wings. 1. FVV - is a combo guard not a traditional PG 2. Green - Combo 3. Brooks - Combo 4. KPJ - Combo 5. Cam - Combo 6. Amen - PG We have so many combo guards, that at most you are gonna play 4-5 tops. DD
KPJ and some Nets picks for Herro. Call it an off-season. PG - VanVleet / Amen SG - Herro / Green SF - Brooks / Eason / Whitmore PF - Smith / Tate ..C - Sengun / Landale If that's not a 40 win team then Udoka needs to be fired.
Herro would seem likely if we got involved with Dame trade to MIA, where we're sending picks and players to POR.
Brooks is a wing, not a guard. Cam is a wing, not a guard. But that still leaves us with 4 combo guards which is plenty - especially since, at least in theory, they're all pretty good and part of the plan going forward.
When did Jalen become a combo guard? I've always seen him as pretty clearly a more traditional 2 guard. It's one of the big reasons he needed an actual PG next to him and a lot more off-ball screens to set him up for catch and shoot shots.
They could have had Delon Wright for a second round pick a week ago…. He would be better than anyone in the poll list
Sorry I disagree. Brooks, Cam are not combo guards. They are SFs. They will play on the wing. We don’t know what Amen will be just yet Adding a guy like Svi that can shoot like that would be good. He handles the ball well enough to not be a one trick pony out there. He would come on the cheap.
Fred VanVleet has become a tradition point guard. He had almost 7.5 assists a game last year with only 2 turnovers. Cam Whitmore is not a combo anything, he doesn’t pass the ball at all and that is his biggest weakness. Dillon Brooks can take the ball up the floor and pass a little - but he really isn’t at his best doing it, he is at his best hustling and cutting to the basket. If Green were really a true combo guard at this point in his development, we wouldn’t have needed a point guard.
Nothing much left from FA's. Read if they complete a sign and trade with DB they could get up to 20 million in cap space. If so, maybe they pkg a pk or two in a trade? Could use another defensive minded big and after dumping TyTy, another point. Teams make a lot of moves at summer league. Maybe something develops.
