Ex-NBA Player Gets 10 Years for League Health Plan Fraud A former National Basketball Association player was ordered to spend 10 years in prison for leading a scheme to defraud the league’s health care plan out of more than $5 million. Terrence Williams, the 11th overall pick in the 2009 draft, was sentenced Thursday by US District Judge Valerie Caproni in Manhattan. He pleaded guilty last year to conspiracy and aggravated identity theft, admitting he led a ring that made false claims for medical and dental expenses. Full story here
Meh My sympathies lie with Rockets Legend Trez Harrell who recently destroyed his knee while being an old, undersized center who cant shoot and no longer gets minutes. Prayers up 4 Trez. Try not to drop the soap or whatever, T-Will
There was another thread about this case a few years ago, but from what I recall Rockets Legend Greg Smith was also involved, but T-Will was the mastermind behind it.
Around 20 from what I recall. Glen Davis and Jamario Moon were involved as well as Greg Smith, but I can’t remember any others. I remember one of them being busted because he was ringing up bills stateside while he was playing overseas.
That’s a lot of time, sheesh. And with likely no sympathy from his NBA friends. Trez is the oldest 29yr old in the league! The previous oldest 29yr old was DMo.
Fraud that targets the institutional systems is highly frowned upon by those that yield power, thus individuals participating in such crime are made examples of to dissuade others; measly percentage points can easily rack up millions and millions of dollars. While violent crime is merely against the ordinary common civilian population, and it’s generally small potatoes.
Here's the original release from a couple years ago : 19 Defendants Charged With Defrauding The National Basketball Association Players’ Health And Welfare Benefit Plan
Nah, most of the country hates him, only the fools in his cult or the white racists tolerate him, he will never be President again, his gig is up. He will likely plea a deal to where he goes away to avoid prison....it is the only chance he has as he has broken so many laws. DD
Damn, is Trez only 29? That makes it even more sad. Oh well, not all my posts can be Olajuwon's. Admittedly most of my posts are T-Wills or C-Woods level.
