For what it is worth, KD's discount was bigger than every other player on the team (probably combined). I'm pretty sure FVV did not give a discount. Really, only player that looks to have given a discount is Sengun. I'd consider JSJ's deal about fair value as he took safety (years) instead of maximizing money (betting on himself).

I consider FVV giving us 3M discount since he signed for 22M, thats kinda an odd no makes me assume 25M was the original amount.

Jalen Green also took a discount since he wanted the max. He could have signed for the 7M extension or w/e to be a RFA but went with 2+1 deal instead. Thats less guaranteed money to bet on himself but he also did the Rox a favor for signing for a smaller amount and years.

And yes Sengun took a massive discount going from 42 to 38.

He’s retiring a Rocket and going into the Hall of Fame wearing Houston baseball cap.

I was hoping for 2year 80M but this is understandable... a healthy KD would easily command the max on the open market.

Plenty of teams in the East would pay him, heck even the Warriors would pay him 60M/year since that's how much they are paying Butler.

Provided he remains healthy in Houston and can play at least 60 games per season + playoffs, I think this is a very good deal for us.

I still view this as a very risky contract for a player with KD's age and injury history. Signing him at all at anything remotely close to market value I think is more appropriate to a team of aging vets desperate to make the last couple of attempts at a ring, not a young powerful team at the beginning of a very long window. So I think I would have rather let him walk after this season, personally.

However, this could have been a lot worse, and we did get him for below open market value, so kudos to Stone for that. Hope it works out for us and he doesn't have any major injuries or a huge decline.

I gotta admit, having now seen him on Starting 5 I feel like I've got a bit more insight into him. He might be the most regular seeming dude of all the big superstars, he's not gonna get **** talked any more than the rest of us and I respect that actually. I hope he really does get his wish of winning a few chips then retiring here and sailing off into the sunset.

how? According to the geniuses on this forum Tillman is nearly bankrupt that’s why he doesn’t spend a few 100k more on penalties on meaningless players at the trade deadline
