Boston went from 22 wins to 64 wins (and a Championship) the following season by acquiring KG and Ray Allen. Question answered!!!
So you were a fan of Boston prior to that 64 win season? Or are you pulling examples that you can find on the internet? My question was asking about the teams YOU followed; not examples in history that are more of an outlier than the norm.
Fair enough…I actually HATE Boston. Forgot that was part of the question. I live in the midwest and my favorite NFL team is the Colts. In 1999 they Fair enough because I HATE rhe Celtics. Forgot that it had to be a team I follow. I live in the midwest and my fav NFL team I follow is the Colts. They went from 3-13 to 13-3 in 1999. Two year rebuild though. In 2012 they went from 2-14 and got Andrew Luck and went 11-5 and made the playoffs. There are a number of other ones out there….just not my favorite teams.
My point is that a rebuild rarely, if ever, takes only one year in the NBA. Unless you acquired (drafted, signed, traded for) a generational talent like a LeBron, or Duncan chances are your team is going to take a few years to rebuild in the best case scenario. Expecting this organization, with a GM only one year under his belt and an owner in his 4th year of owning this team, to oversee a rebuild in a year's time is unrealistic. Could they have trotted out a starting line up of: Wood Mobley Tate Gordon Wall And maybe compete for an 8th-10th seed in the West? Sure but that's not a rebuild; that's putting band aids over long term problems. That team wouldn't make it far in the short term and won't make it anywhere in the long run.
BTW t BTW the 2012 turnaround is quite reminiscent of the Rockets (without a turnaround) as the Colts lost Manning and had the worst record in the league. One year later they made the playoffs. My point being is the lineup I previously listed may have outperformed our current lineup with having Wall back as a starter and Mobley to defend the basket along with all our other talented players. Of course we still have bad coaching and we don’t know that Green won’t turn out to be the next Michael Jordon/Kobe Bryant.
