I just knew you'd come in and save the day, durvasa. This information is outstanding.

It appears the numbers reflect the superior offensive efficiency of Hayes. For those harping on his offensive limitations (specifically his lack of a spot-up shot) it's undeniable that with an average of 1.25+ points-per-play, his offensive efficiency outshines that of swift and howard. Even with their over-glorified jump shots, JHo and Stro effectively give you less than 1 ppp.

    Thanks for the link, durvasa.

durvasa's graphic shows what Hayes does when they set him up for the spot up shooting. nada. he needs to learn how to shoot that so they can run our best play when he's in the game.

That's just great, we might as well start the season in tank mode. If we start early we can get the first draft pick in the following year's draft.

J/K. But I might try a new persona this year that would fit in great with a lot of the posts I read. I will go full throttle in whatever direction each individual game goes for the Rockets this year.

If we win any game I will immediately become hostile as soon as anyone criticizes any player or part of the Rocket's game plan.

If we lose a game I will advocate trading any and all Rocket's players while hoping they will tank. If anyone disagrees with me, I will accuse them of not being a real fan because they don't want to do what it takes to win.

I will constantly alternate between these two extremes depending on the outcome of each game... or maybe not

No, I don't think so. Rox will keep Chuck as a backup PF. I'd trade JHo rather than Chuck.

I don't think so. The Rockets get killed when they are running that play with Juwan in the game. I remember one game we had last year against Phoenix where they even talked about before the game that we couldn't afford to be taking long jump shots and Phoenix getting the run outs on us, that we needed to take the ball inside offensively. Juwan comes out and clanks about 3 of those "gimme" clothesline jumpers where there is zero margin for error. Phoenix got the loooooooooooong rebound and it was dunks at the other end. We were down by 10 before we got a sweat goin.

I hate that jumper at the top of the key. All it means is Juwan is in the ballgame and the best we can hope for is that he is hot as a firecracker so he can pull even with everything he is giving up on the other end.

Juwan's +/- numbers tell a powerful story. Take a look at Yao's +/- number with every other teammate and then look at him and Juwan together. Not only are they negative, they are in the toilet. They're terrible together. (By the way, everytime I post about Juwan, just for the record, you are going to see the word "terrible". I'm going to keep saying it until it is written in your mind.) And yet Yao's numbers are through the roof with Chuckie. Now, everybody knows that it isn't because Yao is a bad player. So, why is it?

This should be requisite reading material for all Rockets fans. Great post, jopatmc!

Regardless of where you fall in the spectrum of JHo fandom or hatership, his poor efficiency numbers are matters of fact. It's not just eye-opening, it's distrubing, distressing, and eventually all-out disgusting.

I can only pray Hayes gets substantially more run this year. The plot is definitely thickening. Yay!

This is a good move by the Rockets. Chuck Hayes is a heart guy that does not take plays off after watching him in ABQ I had high hopes for him. He is a smart player always trying to think what are you going to try to do, rather then just reacting.

Is he the return of Barkley? More then likely not but I like us keeping him... now if we can just unload Ryan Bowen we are better.

Remember there are 15 places on a Team Roster. The signing of Hayes in no way alters the need for five or six NEW additions in the offseason.
