At least Rockets.com represents ClutchCity.net. At least they did a few months ago in, I think it was an ad for either a game or fundraiser or something. Tim, what was it again?
I'm a little surprised so many of you guys like the jersey. In terms of comparing it to the last jersey, yeah it looks ok. But as for me, I don't really like this jersey design. I mean, what is with the font design of the numbers. That "3" on Steve Francis's jersey is freaking ugly. It's too jagged. And what is with the two stripes along the side of the jersey. I didn't know the Rockets were in the WNBA. These two stripes along the side make the jersey look too feminine. Tim said he wanted the Rockets logo to be simple. and it is, but the jerseys still have too much clutter on them. The stripes should have been left off. And Tim says he wants the logo and jersey to be like the great teams in NBA history, the Lakers, Celtics and Bulls....well none of these great teams have these stupid stripes along the side of the jersey..... I do like Tim's reasoning of putting "rockets"on the front of both jerseys as the lakers, celtics and bulls do the same thing. And any team's goal is to be as successful as those three teams.
I think someone has read this thread and decided to give credit where credit was due. First, we see the change in the printed version of Feigen's article via Codell's post at 9:00. Now the Chron has included cc.net on the website:
ClutchCity.net / Special to the Chronicle The Rockets news was unveiled on the Internet last week. [picture didn't work above, here's the wording nonetheless]
I with you here JBII, I couldn't put my finger on why I didn't like the stripes, but that is it. I also would like to see the rockets do a thing like the bulls and have lots of uniforms. That year they won 72 games they had like 10 different jerseys. I'm not thinking we need to do that, but maybe a couple other options. Maybe those same jerseys with no stripes, one stripe or a astros' navy based uniform. I think they should be able to do this like the bulls did(they probably still play in those jerseys). Bulls wearing black worked well and those were popular. We should consider that same option. It would add excitement for nothing more than a little color.
Kinda off the subject some but today when i went to the Texans game i wore my Rockets shirt with the new logo, I got atleast about 15 people who came up to me asking me where I got my shirt from and the logo was very "unique". The way I see it the logo is here to stay we either let it grow on us and the colors as well and the style of the uni, The public will have the final say so eventually if the logo is still here or not. Remember the logo only survives if the public buys!
I wish the road jersey said "Houston" on the front rather than Rockets. Any chance we can create enough stir and get that changed for next season?
I don't recall that being the case. I cannot ever remember Rockets.com acknowledging ClutchCity.net. As for a fund raiser, the Clutch City Foundation is the official charitable arm of the Rockets. They raise money for local charities and projects. Maybe you got the two mixed up.
Being drastic and uncalled for is DaDak's forte. I agree with JBII's take. They look like WNBA jerseys. I'll have to wait to see how they look on before I'll give the final thumbs down though. They are better than the pj's, but color me unimpressed. The retro jersey's looked a helluva lot better.
No, I do remember it. It was like on a 'hidden' page on the site. And it didn't even have the logo or header or anything. It was like 'The Rockets and Clutchcitynet' something or other. I'll go to the waybackmachine to look it up.
Lots of teams don't put their logos on their tops. Most of the time, they're on the short sides or near the drawstrings. I'm hoping the wordmark will be on the upper back of the shorts, like college Nike Teams...
They were pinstripes though (kind of like Orlando's old jerseys) not this feminine thick two stripe stuff. And these gold stripes weren't very visible. You'll probably know that in 1998, the Bulls black jerseys did not have the gold stripes.
