Your version of Steve Francis looks more like Gary Coleman wearing an oversized jersey trying to dunk on a Little Tikes or Fisher Price kids hoop... :D

    HAHAHAHAHAHA... that's funny... :D

But anyway, the new jersey looks pretty darn good in my opinion... the colour schemes of Ultraman, without doubt, influenced Eshioka a lot...

Personally I think the Rockets brass are a joke.

To have the unis unveiled here on the website BEFORE they actually do it on their own smacks of sloppy marketing.

They could have shown the look at the Toyota center unveiling, REGARDLESS of having the actual unis in hand or not.

The Rockets marketing department is a joke, they are constantly trying to fight fires rather then participating in the lighting of the fires.

    Time to clean house Rockets.

With all due respect, 'consistency' is a pretty weak reason, as far as I'm concerned. The team's logo is what maintains consistency. The team's success and marquee players are what establish an identity. The home and away uniforms are already different colors, I don't understand the thinking that putting the same printing on both would build consistency. The city of Houston should damn well be represented somewhere on those uniforms. If you're a Houstonian, you should be pissed. If you're a voter and you made the effort to go out and vote during the referendum, you should be pissed. If you are Jeff, and you worked your ass off to keep these ungrateful bastards in this city and get them a new crib, you should be pissed. If you are a taxpayer, you should be pissed. Don't f****** tell me about consistency, when you can't even recognize the city who has stuck behind your underacheiving team for 4 years, and is paying for your new arena. Don't leave us in the dust now that you have your toy.

Why does it matter if the new uni's say Houston or Rockets on the front? The old uni's that theyve been wearing for the last couple seasons have said "rockets" on them. There was no complaining about that than. THe only complaints were that they were hideous, now they have a simple clean cut uniform that most of us have been wanting. And people still complain I just dont get what the big deal is.

And you guys are right CC.net needs to get more props from the media.

Well, they do say that copying is the highest form of flattery....but if you are irked about not getting credit where credit's due (and I would be), maybe put something up like this...http://www.fallingstar.net/awakened/copyright.shtml

    That would show 'em :)

Hey Tim, we know exactly what you're doing, okay chief? Stop all this long-winded blathering about how you're trying to spread interest in the Rockets. Basically, you're more interested in Asia than Houston, we get the point. The problem for you is that the next time that 18,500 people from Beijing buy season tickets will be the first time. The Rockets play their home games in HOUSTON, their ticket holders are from HOUSTON, and most of the people interested in the team are from...(grace time while Tim jogs his feeble mind to think)... yes, you're right, HOUSTON! So stop ignoring us because as you can see with Minute Maid Park, HOUSTON fans are fickle. When there's no consistency or appreciation from the team, fans don't come out. So after Toyota Center is 1/4 empty in two years, you'll know where to look. Not putting the city's name on the jersey is absolutely inexcusable. And one more thing, the lettering on the jersey is also clearly Asian influenced. It would be easy for you to deny that accusation and say that the design artist is Asian, but that's clearly not the reason. You were going for a distinctly Asian look and you got one. You left hometown fans in the dust and we're taking notice. Thanks a lot. The only thing BIG about the Rockets is the amount of idiots working in the marketing department. And oh yeah, that Yankee Les.

PS - Tim, I realize that you shouldn't be getting all of the blame for this, but you just happen to be the only marketing rep on the site. Instead of directing this at you, it's moreso the organization as a whole. :D

It's all those exclusive copyrights, trademark, "all rights reserved" bull SH*T! They, want to control all mention of "THEIR" product.

And they don't want to give any free publicity to anyone without shelling out the $$$. The Rockets have lawyers. You know, to write up all those nifty contracts with radio and TV stations.

cc.net is not one of them.

By the way, writers from the Chonicle will never devuldge where they get their info.

It would just look bad from a journalistic perspective (inside scoop, "deep throat" and cc.net).

    I agree.

And the Chronicle stealing Clutch's picture and not even quoting him as the source is beyond ridiculous. They should be ashamed of themselves.

I am an international fan, and I think it is ridiculous that the Rockets organization does not stress the fact that they represent HOUSTON.

I'm not from Houston....in fact, I've never been there. As such, esthetically, the omission of Houston from the jerseys doesn't bother me at all.

But morally...if I were in a city which had just laid out hefty coin for a new arena, and that very same year my team brought out new unis, and omitted to give the city it's propoer due, I'd be damned pissed. As it is I'm even a bit miffed, if only because i don't like the idea of my team being so disrespectfull to it's core fan base, and the people who paid for it's home.

Edit: And as far as omitting 'Houston' from the jerseys to appeal to the new Chinese audience, it is my understanding that Chinese culture places a great amount of weight in concepts like loyalty and honor, and not only would they have understood the need to show both to the city of Houston, they might agree with the complaint of it's absence should they become aware of it.

I've just moved from Houston, but I had to throw my two cents in since I know the Rockets organization watches this site.

Les and company: your arrogance and your selfishness is gross. These are the real Rockets fans. Right here. On this site. Not the fair weather wannabes that may or may not buy your suites and that will definitely head for their luxury parking spaces when the Rockets are down ten points with five minutes left in the fourth. These guys here are here every single day caring about the team you own as much or more than you do. These are the guys who helped to get you your arena. Your disrespect -- or really worse, your taking for granted -- of Clutch and of Jeff's efforts on behalf of the arena is really very, very low. And it's a terrible way to start a new era in a new arena. We all know you think you were being smart, hedging your bets, taking advantage of cc.net without crediting it, taking advantage of Houston support while pretending to be an 'international' team, but you were wrong. You were being dumb. Tim: tell your people. It's not just about Houston on the jerseys. Your organization is seriously offending its base. It's bad marketing and it's bad business. Fix it or pay. Your call.

I'm not from Houston too & I understand the organization's attempt to make the Rockets a global team, but I guess others do have a point here that the team is from Houston & the city of houston/local fans deserve to be mentioned in some way(especially after the city spent so much money for the new arena).

If the organization won't change 'Rockets' into 'Houston' I'll assume there are plenty of other Rockets merchandise for Houstonians to feel good about themselves. Perhaps Tim & the organization could consider an alternative jersey that says 'Houston' instead of 'Rockets'... I must say as a foreigner I don't mind sporting a jersey or t-shirt that says 'Houston' instead of 'Rockets'!

By the way, I really don't understand why the Rockets & the Chronicle won't give credits to Clutch, Jeff & the crew for the info & feedbacks they get from this wonderful site. That's just ridiculous!

FYI, while the written article refers to "internet" and later an onl-line sporting goods company (sorry EastBay, no soup for you!) the photo on the Sports front page (top right position... woo hoo!) does attribute "ClutchCity.net photo" as its source.

    Congrats Jeff and staff...

Does it really? Again proof that Feigen and David Barron do read this site. At least they finally owned up to it.

Coz we the houstonans paid for their new building for them to stay in houston!!! It's the least they can do to put "Houston" in front of the uniform to paid respects to those of us who helped them!!!!
