Scotty Brooks is now an assistant on the Nuggets.
I bet he feels that he can take Sura to school!

Francis will be remembered for presiding over a very mediocre era of Rocket's basketball. The Rockets are about to enter a very exciting, competitive, and successful era. The immediate past will be quickly forgotten. Numbers, shumbers, a tempest in a teapot.

    Francis worked his tail off.
    Francis has skills.
    Francis can score.
Francis gave up scoring opportunities to Yao.

For all of those things, I liked him.

    But legendary he is not.
Maybe he can become a legend in the future.

    As I mentioned before Willis,

I like the Sura deal. I still think Ward is a scrub, but he's not costing us Moochie $$$$$.
You know how I feel about Howard:)
Maybe its just LES ALEXANDER. Maybe he just doesn't know how to be a classy owner.
First we get the ugly pinstripes. Then Rudy (THE MOST LOYAL ROCKET OF THEM ALL) jetting the Lakers after 'retiring'. Now the numbers thing.
    the rumored Cynthia Cooper thing...

If this lack of jersey recognition is a common thing now, then I would like to see Chris Mihm wear #34 for the Lakers!

Don't you think it would be classy if they didn't give his number away so fast?

I would say 'Wow, how classy of the Rockets to do that'

Francis did the classy thing for going to China, you think the Magic wanted him to go?

I said 'Wow, Steve is classy for doing that for Yao'

Changing the topic alittle, look at the Calvin Murphy situation..
A former Rocket who gave many years to the team.

Replacing him with Bullard, " A classy thing to do, since Bullard is a fan favorite and along time Rocket "

Replacing him with Cooper " Not too classy"

Look at ESPN, replacing David Aldridge with Steven A Smith!!???

It seems a bit soon to see someone wearing Stevie Franchise's number, but we'll get over it. I hope Francis drops 60 on us with Sura guarding him in a triple OT thrilla that the Rockets barely pull out.... :p

Still Down With Stevie Franchise ('nuff respect mon)

Steven A Smith is terrible, but I am afraid that his "in your face" attitude is more appealing to the new ESPN.

Exactly. Elie is a SPUUUUURR. Other than that he has a shoe store in Houston I think.

Now Mo T taking Joe Barry Carroll's number. Or Jim Jackson took Chris Jent's No. 21. Pie took Chuck Brown's No. 52. And lowly Tyronn Lue taking Purvus Short's No. 10 or David Wood's No. 10. The rainbow jumper. The freaking RAINBOW JUMPER. DAVID WOOD!

I hope somebody mentioned Buck Johnson by now. The real No. 1. ;)

Tell T-mac to give back Buck Johnson's jersey. I thought this number was untouchable

That in your face attitude would actually be OK if the dude was right from time to time.

I agree.. non retired numbers are fair game...

It will be a little strange seeing someone other than elie in number 17.. but once charlie ward makes a few plays in that number.. I doubt I'll ever think much about the fact that he is wearing elies old number again

We all Know that they took those numbers on purpose; more shock value and another way to make us believe that the Franchise Era was very overrated...or was it...he didnt do much of anything anyway.

But hey Charlie... that was uncalled for!!!

Didn't Sura do that Ricky Davis thing to get a TRiple Double.

    This is BIZZARO WORLD.

    Rudy is coaching the Lakers.
    Calvin is accused of kobe-ing.
The Rockets are top 3 next season in TV appearances.
Mario, Steve, Cuttino have their numbers given to Charlie Ward, Sura, and Howard

    And the Astros suck..
OH THATS not Bizzaro world. Thats any world.

as a longtime Rockets fan, not a YOF. I don't agree with Ward using 17.
