This trade officially gives us a glut at the SF position, and i kind of like it because it's got to produce some sort of near-future trade, probably of Battier and Budinger for a guy like Iguodala. Any way you slice it, though, T-Willy is a great piece, and is ANOTHER lottery player (11th pick overall) we got for next to nothing. Let's keep in mind that we have TWO first round picks, that only one was traded, and that it's lottery protected. This is a great move.
Dude its lottery protected relax. If he doesn't pan out its not a huge loss since any pick outside of the lottery is a crap shoot anyway considering the next two draft classes aren't very deep.
So T Williams is incoming & more than likely J Taylor is out going. That in essence is a 1-1 swap? Using that logic Ish Smith is still going to be with the team? There's no reason for him to be getting cut/waived?
well, TWill is cheap and losing, but at least Morey is not trading for a soft white. 1st round pick for TWill? that's a brain-fart trade.
from everything that i've read, T Williams is a terrific score, and athlete, just very immature. I remember watching him torching the rockets in the china games. He can bring some much needed scoring off the much, and possibly push Budinger to play better. I do think there's another trade coming. The rockets dont need three SF.
I'm not seeing the benefit, especially since I think our pick will be worse than NY's. This kid seems like a nutcase.
The guy is already Terrence Williams 23 years old. JT is only one year older... How is this a upgrade? We are basically swaping JT for TW and first round pick for a second rounder. I am still not seeing this just like i will never know why we traded for Courtney Lee now??? I mean does this mean we have Courtney Lee, Martin, and Terrence Williams playing time? Does he take playing time at SF Terrence Williams that is? Very weird unless he is a solution at SF...
http://sports.yahoo.com/nba/players/4616/gamelog;_ylt=Aqscw3Md_0QP0Qrubj8f_hqkvLYF?year=2009 Check out his stats for April and March of last year.
I have never seen him play, but there is a lot of talk about his defense. Since he is 6'-6" that seems to make us less versatile defensively if he is a small forward. Also, just want to express my extreme disappointment with Budinger, if this is indeed a trade that undermines his future here. There is NO REASON that Budinger couldn't be a phenomenal defender. He has size, quickness, and brains... the only thing left that he needs to be as good as Shane Battier is effort, and apparently he is horribly short on that. If he loses his future job here, it is sad commentary for him. I can't remember being this disappointed in a player in a long time.
Seems like this trade doesn't really mean much in the grand scheme of things. Williams isn't going to plug any holes on the team that will significantly improve the team. I hope Morey has something else cooking.....
How are draft picks determined if there is no NBA season next year? Where will teams be slotted in the draft? If we're giving up out 2012 pick, seems like a relevant question.
Dude had 14 assists in a game. Dude had 13 rebounds in a game. Dude had 27 points in a game. All as a rookie. Dude has serious talent. Coming to Houston is the BEST thing that ever happened to his career.
I think the draft will happen regardless of a lockout.. not positive though. EDIT: OH I get your question.. interesting. I'm not sure. Though I think the likelihood of there being no games at all is highly unlikely. Maybe a shortened season at worst?
