Mike Fratello just gave commentary on TWilliams and said to Rick Adelman "Good Luck.".... If Adelman and the Rockets staff treat him like they did Artest then he could really accell.... If things dont go his way and he is allowed to express himself too much here then he could tear the lockeroom apart.

I like Terrance Williams. He balled on us in preseason. Thank god the Budinger experiment is over. Giving this guy some of Shane and Chase's minutes will I think do wonders for the team. Guy has way more talent and athleticism than some here realize.

Thanks Morey for sending Chase to the end of the bench!!!

Meh, RA is a players coach. He lets Martin and Brooks jack up whatever shots they want to so I doubt he's going to say no to Williams if he proves he belongs on the court.

The only thing is that RA will force him to learn his system before he gets any significant PT, but once he does he'll be allowed to do whatever the hell he wants out there.

This TWilliams trade reminds me so much about the Hornets giving up on Jr Smith a few years ago because the latter was known to be a headcase. Almost immediately, Smith became a substantial contributor for the Nuggets.

I agree. I think we have enough of a sample to say that C-Bud is a walking vagina. If he is not making the shots, he is pretty useless. I think Morey saw the need to shore up that s/f position. Too bad they kept Chase instead of JT, who has tons more potential than him.

Here some of his highlights from rookie season. He got the talent, wonder if he can play and defense?

Well, didn't want to be that explicit, but Chase is the epitome of a soft player. In fact, if you look up the definition of soft, you will see Chase's mug next to it.

I'm really hoping the pick we're trading away is NY's pick and not our own... Our own pick seems likely to be a lot higher than NY's at this rate. Moreover, the 2012 draft is going to be VERY deep b/c of the lockout... I'm leery on this move at best. :(

I don't need to start a new thread about this, so I'll just hope it doesn't get lost in the shuffle.

Feigen told me that the Rockets 2012 pick is "lottery protected basically forever."

So consider the trade Terrance Williams for the 15th or higher draft pick.

My guess is that the second rounder we're getting for JT is non-existent (i.e., top-55 protected, and if the pick is not in the top-55 the obligation is extinguished). If that's NOT the case, then this trade is even better!

    It basically boils down to:

Jermaine Taylor and a late first rounder
    for
    Terrence Williams

Even if Williams is a bit of a knucklehead, that is one HELL of a deal. I really wanted the Rockets to draft him in 2009, but he went off the board at #11 to New Jersey. Honestly, I would have traded a first rounder with far less protection than that for T-Will (maybe even only top-5 protection). He's clearly a better (or, should I say, more talented) player than Budinger.

Hell, the Rockets likely would have used their 2011 (hopefully not) lottery pick on a SF who MIGHT approach T-Will's skill level. And they just got him for a freakin' LOTTERY-PROTECTED pick. In 2012, no less.

    In Morey We Trust.

Oh, yeah. Little known fact about this trade (based on an educated guess on my part):

The Rockets were able to acquire T-Will by using the trade exception generated from the David Andersen-to-Toronto trade.

One last gift to us from Andersen. Thank you, David.

"I assume the 2nd round pick was conditional?"

For those counting at home (leebigez, especially), these trades push the Rockets up to over $3.8 million above the luxury tax threshold.

I'm not saying it's a done deal (because it's not), but it's looking like Les Alexander will be paying the tax this year.
