Courtney Lee is a combo guard who can serve in that tall, athletic PG role. At least as well as Vujacic. He's 6'6, 220, and being a young player that frame should fill out even more. That's good enough size for SF (Iguodala is also 6'6, btw).
And just where do you suggest we find this franchise player? Teams just don't give away the kind of player you're looking for, especially not at this time in the season. If someone does become available at the deadline, we could always flip Terrence Williams again, he was a lottery pick and has just as much value as the first round pick (or maybe more, considering it's lottery protected). Obviously Carmelo is someone you'd probably like to get (and so would I), but it's obvious he's not even considering Houston.
I see this board is wasting no time overrating TWill. The guy couldn't even get minutes with the Nets, think about that. Lateral moves like this aren't going to make much of a difference. We have enough role players. This organization still isn't showing that it's ready to take a risk and try to restructure this organization. It's the same team whether you have TWill or Jermaine Taylor. And weren't our stockpile of first round picks supposed to be used to land a star?
I don't expect him to be the next Shane Battier, I'm just saying that there is nothing stopping him from being a very good defender other that lack of interest. His shot may stink right now, but I think that will come back. On the other hand, his defense is absolutely horrible, and I don't see him trying. He has all the tools to do it if he just wanted it.
I wish I had more confidence in Lee as a PG. I'm happy with his SG performance so far, and I think he will get better there as he becomes more comfortable with Adelman's system. Vujacic, on the other hand, is neither nimble nor defense-oriented, but he can shoot lights out with range and has most of his training/experience at PG. Williams is the superior athlete by far.
did the rockets use their own '12 first rounder or the knicks? either way, twill was a lotto pick just a year ago. he's only 22, has size/strength/quickness to defend 3 positions and can play pg effectively.
According to wikipedia, last year TWill was sent to the DLeague as a disciplinary measure after breaking team rules -- anybody know what that's about?
The Nets just aquired two first round picks in this trade along with Favors and more picks... Im just saying this trade is about Carmelo Anthony and I just dont see why the Rockets would get involved in this unless they had knowledge that these picks would give the Nets the edge in aquiring Melo.
Did y'all see his production the last two month last season - from March 3rd to April 14th? He shot 43.7% overall; 31.5% from 3 point; 73.6% FT; scored 14 points, rebounds 6.8, and averaged 5.3 assists per game. That was over a 22 game span. I'll take those numbers for a starting SF Plus apparently he can play some serious defense!!!! Did Morey do it again?????
Honestly this is the type of trade where you can only decide how good it was by seeing how williams pans out.
