To me it depends. Randolph is a far superior player to Milsap and Jefferson. Randolph is over 30, but his style if play should age well. I would love CP3 or Howard, I just do not think it is very likely. When you start looking at the list of realistic free agents and possible trades, there is not much out there. So I can see why Randolph is possible.personally I would be thrilled if Love became available. The NBA is changing, and team defense is becoming huge. Love would do fine.
Bringing a 31-year old power forward (and have our cap maxed out for the next 3 years) to a team with an average age of 24.5 years just doesn't make sense to me. Again, this is exactly an example of a player i don't want Daryl Morey settling with given his age and contract. He would only start to decline on our team plus we'd have to change our entire offensive scheme just to accommodate him.
What's the difference between Zach Randolph and Al Jefferson? Why spend asset trading for one as oppose to signing the other as a free agent?
Not sure why so many ppl think a young team can't have an old player. Different ages are good for contracts. You don't want a bunch of young guys making nothing that all need to be extended at the same time. Staggering is a good thing, and that's what this would help with even moreso Plus the idea of having a vet on the team if you're trying to be competitive
Randolph is not worth it. He is not a winner and will cripple this team's future. Plus he will affect the free flow of our team in a negative way
I would pick Randolph over Millsap or Jefferson any day. But given the conditions(age, contract, team situation), i will pass on Randolph. With a young team, you want to keep all your options open and and its best to have that max cap space to your disposal any time an opportunity presents itself, may it be a deal similar to Harden's or being one of the main bidders in free agency. Giving up assets to lock up a Zach Randolph for the next three seasons wouldn't make any sense for our young core. Again, i do not want this team's cap maxed out and tied up to Zach Randolph for the next 3 years. I want us to be patient, keep our cap flexibilty and be one of the top bidders in free agencies and always ready to pounce on a deal for a franchise changing player if it ever presents itself.
I really like zach randolph alot and I think he's one of the most physical PF's and for his size decently skilled at the dribble and a little jump shot. His rebounding is awesome and his hustle is non contested by any. He would an automatic 10x upgrade in rebounding and defence and inside the paint points. I am just concerned with his age *31* it's not old but a player his size it's hard to tell when he will start declining and perhaps even get alot more injuries with his age. I would pick millsap *28* just because of the age diffrence but I love zachy alot so it's really a hard decision.
We can have old players of course, but not for $16.5mil for the next 3 years. As i've repeatedly pointed out, I want our team to become one of the major bidders in free agencies and have a chance to sign franchise changing players rather than tying this team up cap for several years for something or someone less. Remember, we now have a franchise player in James Harden who can attract other star players to join our team. Why settle for a Zach Randolph when you can have a shot at acquiring franchise changers?
You're welcome Morey http://bbs.clutchfans.net/showthread.php?t=199587 <iframe width="560" height="315" src="http://www.youtube.com/embed/fwIJphevjJ0" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe>
Maybe what makes the most sense is a three-way deal between Memphis, Houston, and Utah: Zach Randolph to Utah Patrick Patterson, Mo Williams, and Donatas Motiejunas to Memphis Paul Millsap to Houston Utah gets two years of Randolph, which they may prefer over a four- or five-year commitment to Millsap. Memphis drastically reduces its current payroll and future payroll obligations (Williams' contract expires at the end of the season) and begins the rebuilding process around Mike Conley and Marc Gasol (as I think Memphis also would love to unload Rudy Gay's whopper of a contract over the next few weeks). Houston gets its guy in Millsap.
I asked Feigen to clarify this, and he DM'ed me saying that two different sources told him that the Rockets haven't had any talks involving Z-Bo.
lma can do it all, but i would rather have cousins plus with lillard now on the team, i doubt the blazers are looking to blow up their team
Utah doesn't need a PF!!!!!!!!!!!!! They've got Favors ready to step in and Kantor and Evans can back him up.
