I'm sure some Heat fans said the same thing before that team brought Shaq in. I think people are looking at a trade like this all wrong. When you can make an upgrade at any position this significantly, you do it. Just because Randolph's contract has three more years doesn't mean the Rockets will be maxed out for the duration. There are any number of moves Morey could make down the road to free up additional cap space or bring in other players. That's what he does.
It would be nice to add Randolph to make a run in the next year or two, and keep Motiejunas waiting in the wings.
What type of players are on a championship type team? LeBron? Durant? There's like total 5 players in the world that are almost a sure bet to get you to the Finals and we aren't going to get any of those 5 players. If we can get Z-Bo without losing any of the core players, we'll probably be a top 5 seed. If you're a top 5 team in the west, your mindset should be to compete for a championship...not to pass up every good player in hoping to wait indefinitely to get the next LeBron or Durant.
I agree. Remember all the people on here saying Harden is not someone to go after, beacause he isnt starting caliber? Same ish different day. ZBO is someone we need
Tweets from.. Steve Kyler @stevekylerNBA "RT @nad_man89: ---> I am not sold Memphis or Houston is going to do anything... let alone anything together" "I think people read WAY TOO much into @alexkennedyNBA's tweet on Rudy Gay.. there is a real sense that Memphis may do nothing major." "RT @bennanceradio: Think Rox will be in the mix? ---> Daryl Morey is saying nothing major is coming. I think Houston wants flexibility" "RT @bennanceradio: ---> Flexibility got them Lin and Asik and ultimately got them Harden... any trade is likely an overvalued guy." "RT @bennanceradio: ---> If the right guy is there, I think they'd pull the trigger. Got to be the right guy. Houston is building something." "RT @bennanceradio: ---> I really don't think Zach makes Houston a contender. Too much $$, too old for their core."
He will put up numbers right now and will demand the ball, but will take you nowhere near a championship level team. When and if that does happen, the guy has been shown to friction with the other players because his style doesn't fit the team style. He wants his quota of shots to remain efficient but is unable to sacrifice shots with out sacrificing his game. Zbo is not a guy you want on your team moving forward. He is fools gold.
Why not? Randolph is old, but Deke was playing for us and had been effective at 59 years old, so ....
If he was fool's gold, he wouldn't have dominated the Spurs and knocked off the number 1 seed, while playing on a team that has 4 other guys that need their shots too. Sure you can say he fits Memphis' system but maybe our run n' gun system is the real fool's gold seeing how we've lost 7 in a row, one coming off against a D-League team. Z-Bo is a half-court player, and once we get to the playoffs, we'll need to be a half-court team. Also, Lin's and Harden's playmaking abilities are being wasted since we don't have anyone that can score in the post. Add in the fact there will be days where your jumpshots just won't go in, it happens, nothing you can do about it, but gritty players that can clean up like Z-Bo show up every night. I'm not making the argument that Z-Bo is a must buy, but who can we realistically get that is an upgrade over Z-Bo?
