Not going to pretend I'm familiar with this guy, but the highlights have me very intrigued. And mark me down as another who would be pretty satisfied with Tarik, alternatively.
Ok forget Serge Ibaka and Paul Millsap. Rockets cannot afford them. Sign this big guy -- just the type of player the team needs (enforcer/rebounder/shot blocker) But prioritize getting Nene back into the fold. Nene, Capela and Reed should be an able frontline rotation.
If we cant get Nene, Reed is a decent alternative. Wont give us much offensively, we will miss Nenes ability to pass and put the ball on the floor, but Reed can finish plays and has a soft floater-like shot that usually goes in. If he is available with the BAE, it's a nice signing, he will contribute.
Reed made something like a $1M last year. Do we know what is his asking price? NBA salaries are so inflated these days. smh...
not a bad signing for the BAE or minimum. not nearly the offensive player nene is, but he's a better rebounder and shot blocker. he is undersized though.
I like that we are looking for dogs with some bite. Does anyone know, since Google and Wiki don't: Is Willie any relation to Willis?
With Nene back with the Rockets, would Daryl Morey still be able to sign Willie Reed? He looks like a worthwhile addition. Hasn't Miami locked him up yet?
http://hoopshype.com/2017/07/03/fre...son-is-to-win-the-most-improved-player-award/ let's do this!!!!!
this was a fall back incase we didn't get nene back. just like the shumpert rumor was a fall back if we didn't get iggy or tucker. we got our guys so we can move on from reed and shumpert talk.
We need another big man besides Nene though. We know that during the season, Nene will get rest. I'd like to think Onoaku (sp?) is ready but I wouldn't count on it. Willie seemed to have potential last season.
For those who want Willie Reed, we actually already have a comparable if no better big on the team in Shawn Long I'm comfortable going into the season with Long as our 3rd big for Nene and Capela.
Its true but we have holes elsewhere that we need to address before insurance policies, IMO at least. plus i don't think we takes a vet minimum. when whiteside went down for a few games and reed for the start he absolutely killed it. he's at least a BAE player and i'd rather use that money to address a need before getting nene insurance. we have a lot of options. we can use the BAE, and the NG contracts either together for a higher priced player or separately for 2 smaller priced players. we can't yet decide what type of players those should be because we dont know what kind of trade (if any) will be made for melo/love/other. i think that big move comes first, then we can use the BAE and NG's to fill out the roster. going for reed right now doesn't make sense to me.
