If they consider that Varejao's contract is not a bad contract, they might want to retain him, and ask for more in exchange. He must be right now one the few encouraging things of their future...
Anderson would be a good addition to our team. A rotation of Hill, Miller, Hayes, Scola, and Varajeo would be very good for the Rockets. A solid mix of defense and offense.
His contract is very reasonable and there will be many teams interested in him (Chris Broussard reports that the Knicks have interest in he and Boobie G. as a "Plan B" if Melo falls through). My guess is they will indeed ask for more than 1 first rounder and an expiring contract in exchange for him. I wouldn't hesistate throwing in one of the younger guys on the Rockets roster if that's what Cleveland wants in addition to a pick, add another draft pick, or eat some salary (of course, it's not my money paying the tax). Maybe trade a pick to NY for Anthony Randolph and flip AR over to Cleveland? I doubt he is "untouchable," however, since it seems it'll be a few years before they get out of the lottery even with AV.
That's true for many centers, though. We got spoiled with Yao and his 80%+ FT shooting for all these years (Chuck was awful, but he hardly shot any) and now get to experience how the other half lives.
Good point! I have to admit that it would be a trip seeing him play with Scola. edit: I was looking at his numbers for the last 5 games, and he was 13-15 at the charity stripe (wow! a fluke?) and pulled down an average of 11.8 rebounds, 1.8 blocks, 1.2 assists, 12.6 points shooting 55%, and only 1 turnover playing 34.2 minutes per game. And this was against some good teams. Oklahoma City, Miami, Indiana (all losses on the road), with the Knicks and Utah at home. They beat the Knicks at home, and that was it. Pretty impressive numbers!
