Killer lineup, literally 2 starter level players at every position.

Definitely could've used his rebounding late in this game...

Too much to give up for Varejao.

What assets are we gonna be left with if their is an oppurtunity for a superstar trade?

Patterson + Hayes + Jeffries is too much for a premier defensive player?

Wow wtf? I think Varejao is basically a taller (but dumber) version of Hayes but isn't giving up Patterson too much? We got prime Battier for the 8th pick, you're saying Sideshow Bob is worth the 6th best talent in this draft (according to DM)? Not to mention Hayes and Jeffries' expiring contract at that...

hayes and varejao playing at the same time can spell trouble for opposing post offensive players.

I could go along with this, but not if we included Hill instead of Hayes.

From this point, we still have picks, Hill, AB or Lowry, Battier (expiring), plus the player that the superstar replaces. Plus, we can use our TPE to take back an overpriced player. I think this would fetch a pretty good player.

Mind you, I'm at the point that I'm only trading Hill for at least a marginal All-Star.

Varejao is one of the best clean-up guys in the league. Him and Scola will give teams nightmares. Another one of those guys you hate, but love if he's on your team. We need the size Hill wont cut it going up gainst the Lakers or Boston's front court too much size.

It's more of a trade deadline deal. Otherwise if they do pull off an earlier trade Taylor could be swapped for Hayes instead.

In this instance, Rockets are left with $9.3M of expiring contracts in Battier & Hayes. If packaged with Brooks & Hill that could potentially bring in a superstar who's contract is just over $18M.

If the rockets have a chance at getting Varejo, they definetly have to explore that option. I would dangle that future New York Knicks first round pick plus a player or two in getting Varejo. A true defensive big with size is all that the rockets are missing at this point. Varejo fits this team like a glove. Maybe Jordan Hill + Knicks 1st round pick for Varejo could possibly get it done.

The more I think about this, the less likely I think this rumor has legs without us giving up more than what we'd get back. Most GM would realize that they need to blow the team up and rebuild but we are talking about Gilbert here. I believe he really does think that the Cavs will get a ring before Miami and is out to prove it. I don't think he'll blow this up until his team is challenging the all time L record. The only way he's going to give up a critical piece on the road to keeping the promise of the letter is if we make an offer he can't refuse. Varejao is not worth that.

Good post. Gilbert is beyond delusional if thinks Cleveland will get a ring before Miami does, hell if the Cavs can even make the playoffs they would be fortunate. Its time for Cleveland to completely rebuild at this point.

I like Hill, but it will take a lot of time for him to become a consistent role player. I would be willing to give up him, Taylor/Jeffries for Varejao.

Our interior defense is weak. We need immediate help. Chuck/Varejao for defense, and Luis on offense will look good. Patterson should be the backup for Luis.

Marcus Cousin was waived by the Spurs yesterday. I liked how he played against us. Anybody? Too much? I mean JT will be going back to the D-league or riding the bench, right?
