I think the rockets are going to do something BIG, I keep seeing Rockets to be active after January 15th. Indiana has a good team but do not want to lose Turner for nothing in the summer so they will trade him if they cannot get a extension in 10 days. I would trade: Gordon Tate and 1st for Myles Turner? I think Turner and Sengun could work together and Turner respect Sengun's game
Exactly. Martin might get paid... in 2024-25. He's under contract next season too. I'd be totally happy with a draft that landed Wembanyama or Henderson, then signing him to an extension. It would be doodooshits to extend him now, well before it's necessary and end up in a scenario where Cam Whitmore was BPA at our pick. Then you're probably forced to trade Martin below whatever value he's established.
Don’t think that would get it done. Indiana is in the playoff race, that trade would make them worse.
Don’t think it will happen .I think all the major trades will start happening next year . Except Gordon maybe this year
In other news…water is wet. And this used to be called “legion sports”; one of the most unreliable pro-sports social media outfits. Lol
Myles Turner Turns Down Contract Extension Offers From Pacers Myles Turner is reportedly turning down contract extension offers from the Indiana Pacers, sources told Marc Stein of Substack. Turner, who changed management agencies in November, has been the frequent target of trade rumors this season. The two sides opened up contract extension discussions in late December. The Pacers, who have $25 million in cap space this season, have discussed a renegotiation-and-extend deal where Turner could make an extra $19.1 million on top of his $18 million contract this season.
Turner should be our #1 target cause he can play both the 4 & 5, which means you can play him and Sengun together at times. Also Turner/Jabari is a front court nightmare. Turner would be an enormous upgrade for our defense. 2023 Turner/Sengun Jabari/Garuba Tari/Tate/? Green/KPJ ?/? KJ/EG/Christopher/TyTy/Gary Bird = expendable.
I really like Christopher. Sincerely. Just don’t want to see him stuck on our bench. If we can open up a pathway for playing time; like trading KPJ, then I’d love to stick with Christopher. I just don’t see where the minutes come from unless we move some players.
Yes, a Jabari / Turner front court is a great pairing. Could really anchor a strong defense, and great shooting to boot. A little weak on rebounding, but you can't have everything. In that scenario, hopefully a backcourt of Green plus either Thompson or Henderson. That is a great foundation.
Also, I feel like trading for Myles Turner and signing him to a long term contract would be the sure fire way to guarantee we'll get Wemby in the draft. Just because it would make our biggest acquisition completely pointless and that's the kind of thing that happens.
Trading KPJ in the future is very possible, but it wouldn’t be to open up minutes for Josh Christopher. That’s hilarious lol
If he’s turning down that kind of extension, he’s either trying to get to a team that will feature him more or a bona fide championship contender. I’m not sure we would check the right boxes for him. I think our best option is to offer him and the next best player available the max this offseason and give them the keys. Everyone else needs to earn their shots.
Why not just trade for Kai Jones. He has a very similar skill set and size of Turner. Jones is a much easier get. The Hornets picked up Mark Williams last draft.
I was thinking that there's three things that might be playing into that - He wants more money than that $25m the Pacers offered. He wants to go to a contender. He wants out of that city - who wouldn't? Indy sucks. Just not enough financial opportunity in that small mid America market. Indy will never win a championship unless they draft a guy who can lead them to it before team control runs out.
