Our team gets much stronger once we gt Bev back, but we still need to trade this season to make noise in the playoffs, I feel.
1) Perhaps Morey is still focused on getting that last "core" piece. 2) When trading/signing complimentary players, Morey always seems to let the dust settle. Let the market sort itself out, and then dive into the scrap heep for an overlooked player. I think that is what we will see at the deadline. A wing, PF, and/or center that can help us and won't cost much (if anything).
What does Douglas provide that Cole doesn't? Cole is the better 3 and D point guard than Douglas. TD is shooting 32.2% from three this season while Cole is 42.1% It's clear Brooks is much better than Douglas that you take him if it doesn't make the Rockets better. If I am Miami, I would take Brooks over Douglas if I am not scared of this trade benefiting the Rockets. He can provide scoring off the bench. With Allen and Brooks off the bench, the Heat easily have the best scoring guards off the bench in the league. And Brooks defense is average. Douglas stats: 3.7 PPG on 37.2% FG and 32.2% 3PT (2.5 attempts) 0.8 APG 1.1 RPG 62.5% FT 6.75 PER Brooks stats: 7.4 PPG on 40% FG and 40.6% 3PT (3.1 attempts) 2.0 APG 1.6 RPG 83.3% FT 12.75 PER
Yes, the man who needs to go is Asik. He has created a big hissy fit and now he is injured as well. This has brought his value down to naught. Only players that are of limited value will be offered to DM, and perhaps none at all.
Unfortunately Morey's gamble on Asik has backfired. I don't know, maybe he will return at the end of the month when his injury has 'healed.' Maybe then his trade value will go up and we can get something decent in the off season for him. Right now, I won't hold my breath, but it's a big negative for the team.
At this point I'd say go ahead and try to pick up j.R smith. Howard really doesn't seem to have a problem with him and you don't really hear reports of him being a locker room distraction. Only problem is his contrCt I think is like 2-3 years idk if rockets would want that. He's always been a good player defiantly elite in my opinion sort of like a chandler parsons level but obviously diffrent play style n athletic difference. He would be a great addition.
JR is a moron and a selfish chucker. He might be useful on the bench with a TIGHT leash. Who do you trade for him though? Also no thanks to the three year contract.
"Daryl Morey has made deals on all 6 trade deadlines since he's been Rockets GM. Total 9 deals, 39 players, 10 picks" Relax guys
We could make a big trade with Knicks and possibly another team. We trade asik and other players for JR and some other valuable prospects from either Knicks or the other team. Also yeah the 3 year contrAct is hefty but if rockets think he is the sixth man they have been missing they might consider him to be permanet role but his contract is sort if expensive speacilly if Morey still plans on landing a star but you could waive jr smith if u think u were going to land a star. I think jr would be nice as heck just not sure how jacked up he is
Yes, I'm kind of iffy on making a deal for him. On one hand, he's a immature guy that does stupid stuff on the court, and sometimes can get out of the offense by taking ill advised shots. On the other hand, we need a backup to Harden and JR is instant offense off the bench, and he plays pretty good D when he wants to. It's taking a risk. Do we get the "6th Man Of The Year", or the other JR? All you can hope for is change of scenery with good teammates and a player's coach can help. Everywhere he has gone, his first year or two has been really goo. It's just anything after two years he seems to revert back to the real/old JR.
I though we wanted to go after Kevin Love. Taking on unnecessary heavy contracts seems counter productive to that goal and I doubt JR will have much trade value.
Are we really that desperate for a bench that we want to pin our hopes on JR Smith? Better to keep Lin then till his contract expires.
He is one of those guys that can shoot you back in to a game. Gets hot, keep him in. Chucks, and you can take him right out. The Rockets need a guy who can create his own shot off the bench.
Funny thing is Dragic with his player option can get Morey a 1st round pick right now if he had need of one for a trade.
