Read my post. He likes early vacations, maximum a 1st round exit. He's done it his whole career. Bahamas / Hawaii trips are cheap in april bro!
Still say, "Hell with it, let's miss the playoffs. Get the draft pick back from Denver. This season is our Trail of Turds and we're the media punching bag / clown car as a result." Why would Joe Johnson come here to die, anyway?
This would be a hell of a pick up. I am not writing this season off, and it is not "false hope" to think these guys can still right the ship. We were in the freaking WC Finals last year. How quickly everyone forgets.... Watch us go on a 5-7 game win streak here, and the bandwaggon will fill up again. Two games out of the 6 seed and 5 games out of the 5th seed. Houston sports fans......
So, Johnson can play for OKC, Cleveland, or the Rockets. Tough decision for old Joe. Maybe having Bickerstaff as our coach will help us reel him in.
So Biggie's back in the picture.... "Big" Brooklyn was the very early season tease, and then, well, we all know what happened to a J__J___ Joe can still play, that's for sure.
Reports are that the Nets are working on a buyout. Not officially done yet. http://www.cbssports.com/nba/eye-on-basketball/25495030/plenty-of-options-for-joe-johnson-after-potential-nets-buyout
Being appox. $500K from the hard cap, would we have to waive Thornton, have someone else claim him (to get us a little room), and then sign JJ? Or does only the prorated portion of the veteran minimum count, and as such we might have enough room even if Thornton clears waivers?
Lol...it's true. If he comes here we'll play him at the four and then will wonder why we can't get any rebounds.
I can hear the pitch now. "Come join the Rockets where we shoot a ton of 3's and play no defense. If you're looking to jack up 3's all day and get blown out in the first round or not even make the playoffs, this is the place for you." Kind of hard to pass up.
I don't think the Rockets have much of a shot, but this is yet another reason why the D-Mo trade being vetoed sucks. The Rockets had saved money, picked up a valuable pick and created roster spots and a bench opportunity.
Time to hardball Thornton & Lawson. Tell them they're not playing for the rest of the season & then offer a buyout.
Of the teams said to be interested in his services why on God's green earth would he choose to play for this year's version of the Houston Rockets?
