Portland definitely have better assets than the Rockets, Wallace would be a great compliment to Aldridge on the wing.
I'm not a big fan of Gerald Wallace. He's a great player, but he doesn't address our current needs nor help us rebuild going forward. What would be his role here, another high level role player to toss on the pile?
Well WTF did you buy it to begin with! Should of gave Artest more money and forced him to choose with Houston offering him more money then L.A. Should have paid Wafer and kept Landry.
That's my ultimatum put to Morey for this trade deadline. Acquire a good young frog which limits it to the ones in Dallas or Portland.
Doesn't address our current needs? Come on... Shane doesn't shutdown scorers anymore at this point, he is still smart, still draw charges, still block shots (in his contract year) and is still a leader in the locker room, but we definitely need an upgrade with a defensive SF, and Wallace is one of the best out there! I know we need a defensive Center first, but still we need a defensive SF! Can't wait to see who Daryl will bring in Houston!
I think it should be an unwritten rule that if you draft a player (Batum), trade him for another player in the draft (Donte Green), then package the new player for a veteran (Ron Artest), and then allow said veteran to walk, it should immediately preclude the team from ever trying to trade for the player that started the whole mess to begin with.
Um, yes he does? Im pro getting Wallace but he isnt some huge upgrade like everyone is making him out to be.
Wallace tyo Portalnd doesnt make sense. All reports indicate they want to get tird of their vets. Plus Batum is almost an younger version of Wallace. Is there any point to Cleveland acquiring Wallace? Where will it take them? I think Rockets have a chance as long as we dont wait too long. Some other teams can probably make a better offer then us.
Obviously, you don't know much about him. He would be Shane Battier 5.0. What is not to like about a guy twice as athletic, 8 rebounds a game, and plays defense, a career 47% shooter, and can get a shot for himself. The only thing he is not head and shoulders above Shane is is he is a career 31% 3point shooter.
I think they've got the right pieces/shooters for Wallace to be a centrepiece there. They can try to be a thorn in Miami's side.
This actually reminds me alot of last year. Alot of deals were made early and I thought the pool was drying up but Morey came through in the end. Lets have patience.
Um, no he doesn't. Try to overcome your bias and wrap your mind around the fact that it's no longer 2007, and while Shane Battier's very sound fundamentally, he no longer possesses the lateral agility and stamina to consistently lock down elite perimeter scorers. I don't know how many times I've seen him overplay helpside, and get burned for a 3-ball because he doesn't have the quickness to rotate back to the perimeter. Wallace is a HUGE upgrade. He's a legitimate threat on offense, an area where Battier's inept. His length, prowess on the boards, and strength around the rim would really shore up concerns at the 3. Defensively, he's much more versatile than Battier, plus he's 4 years younger.
dwightjaynes Just got off the phone with an NBA source who says his team believes the Wallace-to-Portland deal is "done."
