To do list: Trade Budinger, Hill, Battier, Jeffries, and our 2011 2nd round pick (the Clippers' pick) for Wallace and Diop (salary dump). Draft best PG available with our 2011 1st round pick. Trade Martin, Lowry, and our 2012 1st round pick (Knicks' pick) for Deron Williams. At the end of the 2012 season, we'll only have Scola, Williams, Patterson, and the 2011 1st round pick (whoever he is) on the payroll, plus capholds for Wallace and Courtney Lee. Enough room to sign Dwight Howard? Even with the new CBA, I think so, as he might take less to play with Deron. Thus, for the 2012-2013 season: PG: Williams/2011 1st round pick SG: Lee/free agent or 2011 2nd round pick SF: Wallace/Williams PF: Scola/Patterson C: Howard/free agent or 2011 2nd round pick This team is, perhaps, the best defensive team in the NBA, and easily a championship contender.
Reportedly the offer the Bobcats made was Caron Butler ($10 million expiring) + Beaubois. Mavs real high on this Beaubois kid and turned it down. Pretty cheap deal for a solid player like Gerald Wallace. Houston can offer a similar deal like Battier/Jeffries + Aaron Brooks for Wallace.
10 years down the road Dallas fans will wonder what could have been if Cuban didn't have such a massive hard-on for Roddy
Had the Mavs got Wallace that team would of been even more stacked. AND they are after Devin Harris. So many good veterans on that team. Father time is not going to be good for them in a few years. Although I'm sure Cuban is going to reload with a star at some point.
3 for 6 from the field, 14 for 15 from the FT line tonight. 20 points on 6 shots. Kevin Martin, eat your heart out. ; )
I really don't understand why teams are turning down Gerald, is he nursing an exploding knee or something? because it's a cpl year easily manageable contract for a very very very good player (that never causes any off court incidents either, if anything the guys biggest problem is he's too quiet)
Just like Cuban's hard on for Dirk. There was a trade offer on table (from Lakers) when Kobe wanted out, pretty much Dirk for Kobe straight up and another offer Gasol for Josh Howard (I'm pretty sure there were more pieces in this, but they were headliners). They could have what the Lakers had.
Also why the HELL didn't they trade him. As it stands they have a logjam @ PG (I consider Terry 1/2 a PG still), so with Barae & Kidd, and possibly getting Harris, I don't understand why they need Roddy, and this team BADLY needs a SF (Marion is way past his prime).
I'm on the Gerald Wallace bandwagon. This Bobcat ray of light is making it harder for Wallace to be traded. This guy can ball, though. I hope he ends up in a Rockets uniform by Friday. If not him, then Stephen Curry. If we do nothing, I'm going to play NBA 2K11 and make it happen.
If Bobcats would do it I would be all over it. But Morey is probably trying to get Dwight Howard from Orlando and the Cleveland Cavaliers 1st round pick for that same package as we speak. Oh well I guess when Thursday rolls around and the Rockets front office says that nobody was selling we will just have to take their word for it.
Morey should do whatever it takes to get Wallace, heck I would even give up Martin / Scola. Martin is not gving us anything on defense and Hayes / Patterson could start at the 4 spot. Then move Battier + AB for a center and we're golden.
I think Daryl is weighing his options. You can put 2. Kevin Martin 3. Gerald Wallace 4. Luis Scola together, and hope for a C to break free in the offseason (Or grab Dalembert)... The other route is by way of the Nets, imo. The Nets are looking to make moves now, they are looking to win now. Favors and picks could be had for Scola and/or Martin. Youth movement through Patterson, Favors, Terrence, (Jimmer?) ...
