2 things that come to my mind (don´t know if this trade rumor is true but)... Wallace and Granger are the best SFs (Iggy is not a SF, Pierce is to old to mention) after the big 3 (Melo, Durant, LBJ), and out of those 5, Wallace is the one that makes less money per year (not this year because Durant was still on his rookie contract). Every time you got a chance of trading for a top 5 player in his position, you do it, and if that player comes at a very low value just by eating some bad contracts the better (for us fans and the GM, not that good for the owner). The other thing that pisses me off, are the people talking about how Adelman didn´t play this raw, very young rookie on a winning Sac team, and make a parallel between that situation and the current one. That SAC team >>>>>>>>> Current Rockets That young Wallace <<<<<<<<<<<<<< Current Wallace Wallace is one of three players ever to average at least 2 steals and 2 blocks in one season, other two were hakeem olajuwon and david robinson (I think) How can people make "not very smart" statements, about Wallace not going to play for Houston because Adelman didn´t play him in Sac town, or saying that if DM trades for him, that means that Adelman is gone after this season...... I mean seriously.... smh PeAcE
But seriously can Battier do this? <a href="http://www.gifsoup.com/view/1761675/gerald.html" target="_blank"><img src="http://www.gifsoup.com/imager.php?id=1761675" border="0"/></a><br /><a href="http://www.gifsoup.com/" title="GIFSoup" target="_blank">GIFSoup</a>
Not if your definition of rebuilding is incredibly narrow, and destined to keep the team mired in mediocrity or worse for many more years. Bring on Wallace and a defensive center!

You quoted an entire post about defense and pasted a .gif of an offensive putback dunk? No, Battier probably couldn't do that. But one (defensive?) highlight isn't going to change my opinion -- I'd have to watch them play more. Maybe I just haven't seen Wallace play enough, but I don't see a big difference between the two on the defensive side of the ball. That's not a bad thing -- Battier's a pretty damn good defender. Adding GWallace isn't going to suddenly vault us into a top defense.
Gerald Wallace for sure, man i hate this part of the season always refreshing the GARM waiting for a splash that will take us back into contention
Going for Paul and Howard would be why you would get Wallace and keep Martin, a long shot? sure, but whats the cost? well Martin and Wallace are pretty much expirings at that point, so if it doesn't work, you lose the one(potentially lockout) year and can go for a complete rebuild. It's not actually a lot to lose, we could rebuild now but given how crappy this year's draft class will be, it may well turn out to not even cost a year.
Terrible rush to judgment. The guy can hoop. Don't give me that "he'll mess up our chemistry" crap. That's the same reason the Texans suck
That's exactly why they're not trading him; they have NO other good young players. Cuban likes to get deals done, but not for Nene who could leave as a FA in the offseason.
They are different types of defenders. Battier is a better one-on-one shut down defender. Wallace is better at reading passing lanes, and blocking shots on the help-side defense. Both of them are elite defenders IMO PeAcE
He won't hesitate,if he thinks that Nene can put them over the top. They will look for the next Roddy B later.
Don't forget he threw Josh Smith in there along with magically signing Paul and Howard. And of course it's not a lot to lose considering it isn't close to reality and it's some random fantasy proclamation.
