He's a selfish volume shooter pretending to be a PG, I wouldn't want him on any team I cared about. Melo is considered a top player as well, wouldn't want him either.

I agree with you that i wouldn't want them here. We have no issues scoring the ball. I think there are plenty of teams that desperately need scorers and that if we didn't have Harden I would be happy to have either of them.

    Melo and WB are executors

Shawn Marion is still a heck of a ballplayer, and would be a great fit (in my opinion) as the forward opposite Chandler Parsons in the starting lineup for the rest of this season and all of next season (I don't think it really matters who you call the "small forward" vs. the "power forward" in Houston's offense). He also does not represent that significant of an addition to the 2013-14 payroll, as he makes $6 mil more than Patrick Patterson, which isn't exactly outrageous. Marion makes Houston quite a bit better this season and next season, and when next season ends, his contract expires, and you'd have a very large amount of cap space to play around with, to add to your core of James Harden, Omer Asik, Jeremy Lin, Chandler Parsons, Donatas Motiejunas, Terrence Jones, Royce White (fingers crossed), etc.

As absurd as it sounds, I think that the player who Daryl Morey is eyeing is Lebron James, who will opt out of his contract at the end of the 2013-14 season. I think that Lebron looks at the amount of money that Michael Jordan is hauling in, many years after he's retired, and realizes that the way that Jordan built up his brand (other than the charisma, and the excellent play) is all of those championships. Lebron is extremely interested in branding himself. I believe that Lebron will do the same thing in summer 2014 that he did in summer 2010, when he jilted Cleveland at the altar and signed with Miami: he is going to take a look at his options and sign with whichever team has the best supporting cast for the next several years, a supporting cast that he can win multiple championships with. And I think that Morey gets this, and is subscribing to the "If you build it, he will come" philosophy.

If you look at Houston's roster... is it not built for a Lebron James team? Plug Lebron in at the "power forward" position... isn't this exactly the kind of supporting cast that he wants?

And some of you guys want Houston to destroy its chances at signing Lebron so you can have Eric Freaking Gordon? Or LaMarcus Aldridge? Really?

Pipedream bro. Bosh and Wade will resign for cheap longer contracts by time all 3 can opt out and the Heat will sign another Max player.

I think it's a pipe dream. If it were only about winning, we might stand a chance with all our cap room and the fact we already have one superstar. But in these times it's not just about basketball, these guys are all about being in glamorous cities. LA and NY are the top tier then you have cities like Miami, Chicago, Boston, and Brooklyn. In terms of glitz I think Houston is in the third tier.

What? Houston is atleast 2nd tier. No way it's below that. LA, NY, MIA, BOS, Dallas are top tier. I believe these are the biggest sports market. Then everyone else imo.

I don't buy it. The likeliest outcome is Lebron resigns and brings in more talent to Miami. He could go back to the Cavs and play with Kyrie. Houston is a long long long long shot to sign him and should not waste the next 2 years for such an unlikely outcome. We are building something great here. I believe we are a second tier team. We are one more player from legit odds at winning a championship.

Heh, Shawn Marion? Good player? Yes. Makes this team meaningfully better? Not really.

What exactly has he made the Mavs into last season and this one? Good role player. Not worth spending cap room on.

Um no. 2nd tier for players would be OKC, SA, Golden State etc. Houston has horrible basketball fans. The summer here is brutal. Living standards are low. It's a big city and a profitable franchise, but players just want to be appreciated.

Are you kidding me? You think basketball players would rather live in Oklahoma City or San Antonio than Houston? The Houston culture is literally perfect for a basketball player.

actually Lins D is ok to be top 5 in steals, Harden isn't a bad defender at all even though he does get lazy sometimes, and Gordon is a great defender at shooting guard! We'd be pretty deadly on the wings

the Heat worked out well, everyone was saying lebron and wade both need the ball but they found a common ground. Lebron can do it all but Harden can also and hes a great facilitator, those times Harden is struggling Gordon could lift us, it also doesn't hurt he shoots the 3 very well too... but idk because we need room for Kevin Love.

This! Repped. LeBron and Wade are willing passers. Harden is a willing passer. If Gordon isn't considered one, well whatever, Lin is. Lin/Gordon/Harden could work. I really do think so.

I think Cuban would pay Mayo before he traded for Gordon simple due to the injury issue. Dirk is too old to risk that move. Dallas is going to swing for the fences and Gordon is just a double.

And no thanks to Marion. Not for 9 mil a year...

But I can see Houston being in the middle of a three team trade.
