Originally posted by The Cat and if that's not legal, there isn't one GM or fan that seems to know about it.
Hey now. Pimp and I are "fans," and we didn't seem to know about it. Now back to bashing the idea that we have a draft pick to trade or a player to trade.
Sorry, I confused this situation with a sign-n-trade situation. My bad...you guys forgive me. Still, Detroit wants picks, not a stiff like Collier.
This is completely true. They changed that rule during the winter rules committee meeting last year. They wanted to get rid of the phantom injuries.
I don't think anyone thinks Detroit would trade him straight up for Collie. Only reason I included him is to match salaries since were over cap(tho I have no idea what Bateer makes). Any matching salary would do tho. btw, lol @ hp too.
I didn't think they'd want Collier...or anyone else would either. Cut him. Trade for Bateer...60 days waiting would be fine with me. Possum: Not with Chaney at the helm...Worst...Rocket...Coach...Ever.
Don't give up PIMP hell I'll be more than happy to argue a wrong point with you, I do it with mine all the time!
CK, There are few better people to be wrong with than RocketPimp and his girls. It is always a good thing to prop up the Pimp and be his "Yes" man. sounds like Dumars just wants a pick, as The Cat is noting, which seems to rule us out altogether right there. Bateer is making minimum, so no trade matching is needed, since you can use the Minimum Salary Exception, instead. And that is Coon faq #63 ... for those keeping score at home...
Funny story I forgot who, but some palyer in an interview anounced that he was placed on the injured reserve. Question was asked, "what is the injury?" "I think it's my leg" "Which one?" "I don't know yet". No wonder they changed the rule.
Why do we want a guy who couldn't get off the bench in Denver? Realistically, Denver had the least amount of talent in the L last year and Bateer saw little pt. What does that tell you? If you all want him just to help out Ming that is one thing, but the guy would see no time here and as it is our picks are getting more and more valuable since we don't have very many in the near future. If he and Ming are boyz (a la Steve and Cat) then I see what Detroit might want, otherwise let the Spurs have him.
Actually, Bateer arrived last Feb. Among last Denver's 27 (?) games, He started about 12 of those. He is the type of player who can bang w/ Shaq. Just ask Ben Wallace and Paul Pierce. After WBC game, Ben was quoted said 'if he can continue beat up other in the post, he would find place in this league.' That is part of reason he has better stat (than Yao), when China NT play with U.S.A team. But it is not necessary good thing for Yao to adapt the new environment: Yao will not be forced to speak/think in English.
Bateer played only 27 games as a rookie last year after he finished his CBA games. He's a power player that commended some double teams, has range to the 3 point line. A little slow on foot speed, unaccustomed to NBA defense and biased officiating got him into foul trouble which cut his minutes to 15 mpg. The guy is huge and stands like a wall. His mere persence changes some shots. I've seen guards ran into him in the post and got bumped back to the FT line. He'll be an excellent backup C. Denver traded him as they have Camby and Detroit has Ben Wallace. I'd love to have him on the Rockets for a second round pick.
espn says "The Pistons are in talks with San Antonio about moving Denver's Mengke Bateer to the Spurs for Erick Barkley and a future second-round choice." mengke bateer is decent (and better than collier)...i'm sure we could beat the spurs' offer...
