@WojYahooNBA: Y! Sources: Golden State trades Monta Ellis to Bucks for Andrew Bogut and Stephen Jackson as part of 5-player deal. http://t.co/WVZLuKiR
The one thing you have to understand about DM is that he will never ever overpay. Not one red cent over. When you have a dozen other GM's looking at the same asset he won't ever come away with a trade. Count on it.
The problem with the Rockets FO is that they have a bad reputation with players. When you look at it realistically, there are players that are disgruntled here, players don't like Morey's personality, players are unhappy with the "assets" label, players are unhappy with the no extensions until the off season situation. That does not even include all the other things he has done to previous players. I know Morey is a stats guy and likes to play money ball, but that will not win us a championship, nor will it net us an all star caliber player. Our best shot is to trade away all these contracts and get good draft picks and build that way. As much as I hate that, and I will hate watching the Rockets suck ass for a few years. However, it will be better in the long run and we may have an OKC team in 3-4 years. This is the 3rd consecutive Trade deadline that has been like this. Granted there is still a day and a half left or whatever but something has to happen. I am beginning to get irritated and frustrated with this teams FO. The Tmac and Yao era are over. We are obviously not going to trade for an all star (especially in this short season) unless a miracle happens. Trade whatever we have for draft picks and use those to get a #2-#5 draft pick in this deep draft. Even if we make the playoffs, we aren't going to go anywhere. I love this team and everything but I cannot stand all of this win now bullsh!t with a team that is no where near winning a playoff series, much left a conference or championship.
This is not all bad guys. This trade makes Milwaukee better. It should help the value of our Knocks pick as it should push the Knicks out of the playoff picture. And I think it gives us a definitive leg up in renting Dwight.
@WojYahooNBA: The Bucks still plan to keep Brandon Jennings, as @SpearsNBAYahoo reported yesterday. GM John Hammond made deal to pair Jennings and Ellis.
I think it also takes Orlando out of the running for Dwight too. Ellis was their last hope acquisition to get him to stay.
I completely agree with your first comment. Not sure of we have a leg up on any significant deal at the moment. I'm not completely sold that Howard will be traded, though I think the Magic would be wise to do so. On the Bogut trade, I'm not upset that this deal didn't happen for the Rockets. What I fear is, the Rockets don't roll the dice and take some chances. I really don't care if Morey over pays to make something happen. If we make a trade for a rental and it doesn't work, then we can build from scratch and hopefully through the draft.
Sorry, it's getting late here at work. I'm not as familiar with your postings so i mistook it in thinking you didn't catch that last bit.
The problem is why the fxxx do we rent DH for? The original thinking was that by renting hin we may somehow persuade him to stay. But now Words have come out that he's "determined to go to the Nets this summer". So what exactly do we rent him for? Just so that we can still stay afloat and won't get a high lotto pick? We'll for sure suck next year after he bolts. But why even bother then? Why not start sucking from now on?
