It's close. Centers are a dying breed. I would put Gasol, Howard, and Bynum up there. After that there are defensive guys like Noah, Gortat, and Chandler. There are forwards that play center like Horford and Jefferson. You also have young guys like Lopez, who can shoot but lacks rebounding for a big man. When healthy is in that first category I think, a true big that averages double digit rebounds, scores efficiently, and gets blocks. Not too much of a stretch to say top 3, probably top 5.
I'm not a Rockets insider but based on the way Morey values players I don't see him moving Courtney Lee for an Andrew Bogut, losing Lee makes us beholden to Kevin and bench players we have no plans of keeping. I bet Lee stays, but all options are on the table for a player better than Bogut, I just don't think he's it.
Damn, that could mean anything, but if it's not Bogut or Gasol, it'd have to be someone better than both of them right?
Yep. Nothing is going down tonight guys. They have a decent starting bid at Dalembert/Lee + "A POTENTIAL PICK" for Bogut. I think they have the upper hand going forward.
Look, Pau Gasol is the best center in the NBA not named Howard or Bynum. Don't tell me he's a PF. I know that. What I am saying is Pau playing the 5 is better than anybody else playing the 5 except Dwight and Bynum. And frankly, Bynum is questionable but he gets the nod of Pau because of age.
What could be better than Bogut or Gasol? The only other big that could be considered better that is rumored to be on the trade block is Dwight Howard, and that seems like a longshot. I wonder if someone that nobody has been talking about hit the trade block.
Not necessarily. They are probably just shopping around. They threw down an offer, and obviously there is enough time to hedge a bit. They can do some window shopping down in New Orleans as well in their spare time if they want.
