I actually think that Gortat is a better fit for this current team as a solid pick & roll big man.

However, Asik is the better defender, especially... HINT, HINT, when he's fresh, and playing lighter minutes like he was with Chicago.

IF(thats a big IF since its coming from Hoopsworld) the Rockets are interested in Gortat, that doesn't necessarily mean that they are looking to part with Asik. Maybe its just a plan for them to have 2 quality Centers who can give the Rockets multiple looks, lower the usage of each big, and improve offensively with a weapon like Gortat as a pick & roller.

That being said, I don't believe a thing that comes from PoopsWorld, but I do believe the Rockets still are going to be active here in the coming weeks, but it will mostly be for smaller moves. No doubt they will try to make a move for a player like Millsap, but doubt they will be able to land him by the minimal amount they should be willing to give up for him in trade when they can just sign him this Summer.

Agreed. Gortat actually has a post game and he can catch the ball. He may not be quite as good of a rebounder and maybe slightly worse defensively he is WAY better on offense.

    Bleh....

    Gortat 12/9/2 on 10 shots a game

    Asik 11/11/1 on 7 shots a game

Gortat is playing 3 minutes a night more and is the better offensive player, but Asik is the better defender and does not complain.

They are actually very similar as far as overall production is concerned.

Two words.. Alvin Gentry. Check out how bad Goran Dragic's numbers are as well. Gentry is killing that team.

His d is OK, not nearly as good as Asik's. Suns basically defend at the same below-average level with him on or off the floor both this year and last.

Asik's presence improves Röckëts D by nearly 10 points per 100 possessions this year when he is on the floor. Last season, the Bulls were also nearly 8 points per 100 possessions better with him on the floor. Both teams defended at very high level while Asik is on the floor.

I knew the "I'll leave the board" thing was b.s.

Hey, jopatmc: Romney sucks! Take away our guns! Let's socialize medicine! Obama is God! Up is down! Black is white!

Just kidding, but I'm glad you're around. You sniffed out some good stuff here. Hope it's not chicken feed (which wouldn't be your fault) disguised as glitter.

Screw Gortat. He had his chance to come here and he spurned us. He deserves to rot on his last place Suns team. Why let him be a part of this when we are going places?

To be fair, jopatmc has not posted here. It's OK for him to still tweet about the team, right?

Lin is easier to replace than Harden, Parsons and Asik. Harden is one of the 5 most valuable players in the NBA considering his age, Parsons is a better player than Lin and is under an amazing contract and Asik is an excellent defender and rebounder. Further, the center position is far harder to fill than the point guard position.

I do not want to give Lin away, but he has the least valuable among Harden/Parsons/Asik in trade, and all three of those guys are harder to replace than Lin.

    True, true, true.

Me, just being Reggie Miller (jerk).

DaSpark isn't jopat's 2nd account by chance?

Couldn't agree more. So many people throw Parsons in on trade speculation as if he isn't our 2nd or 3rd best player. The guy who does all the little things.

I was talking about Tony Douglas :p

Honestly I was just Shaqtin a fool messing around with larsv8 (hehehe) ignore me.

Anyway I actually think Parsons can be replaced to be frank. For example Carlos Delfino can provide what parsons does. Carlos is just as good of a passer, better defender, just as good of a driver & equally as streaky as a shooter. Carlos also tends to make less boneheaded decisions. Parsons has the more upside though, is younger & has the better health record. But I don't want him traded at all. I am really fond of Chandler.

I think Lin is a lot tougher to trade than people think, not because of his talent (or lackthereof depending on your stance) but because the PG position is lucrative, the good ones are locked up on multi year deals. Unless you want Jose Calderon or Brandon Jennings or Eric Bledsoe. Nope to all three.

Parsons does have the rookie contract & also because the PG position is already solidified by most teams, most teams would demand Parsons over Lin.

But anyway this is all beside the point.

Getting back to the thread. Not interested in Milsap either. Don't think he is "THAT" player than can get the Rockets over the hump & make them true title contenders.

Throw in Lin for Dragić while you're at it.

We wouldn't give up Omer to get Gortat

RT @lexthepex: If the Rockets have interest in Gortat does that mean Asik can be had for the right price? ---> No. They want more rebounding

If his sources are correct then we wouldn't be trading Omer for gortat, if we are looking for more rebounding (i know it doesn't say specifically that we won't trade Omer for gortat, but it's sort of implied).
