    1. Lampe is no longer under contract

    2. the situation with Banks seems to be that while multiple teams want him, nobody wants to pay a lot of money for him. He wants the full MLE and nobody is offering him that. He's holding out hope that somebody gets desperate as the supply of available trade bait PGs and free agent PGs dry up, though..

I hope you are correct. However, I do not believe we will be able to sign V-Span without using the bulk of the MLE. Correct me I am in error here. Do you think he will really go for $2M? Also, Marcus Banks is an unrestricted FA so we can't use our $4.2M TE to acquire him unless we do a sign and trade with Minnesota, which does not look to be a likely prospect.

Phoenix wants to improve its backcourt size, but Banks, even at 6 feet 2, is a noted defender who could help the Suns reach their goal of cutting about five minutes off Nash's career-high 35.4-minute average last season.

So Mr MVP has been averaging 30 mpg for his entire career? Holy sh*t!!! Those are Yao-esque numbers :)

Now back to your regualrly scheduled debate about a marginal NBA player who will lead the Rox to a championship season ...

It was the 6th question mark made this thread irresistible to me.

    Banks to Phoenix?

A Phoenix radio station reported that Marcus Banks has chosen the Phoenix Suns, despite the Rockets initially offering the full MLE, which Phoenix neglected to do (5 years, 22 million).

Does this have any correlation to the V-Span rumors?

Godd I'd rather have Spanoulis. Banks is a 6-2 SG that has to play PG, Spanoulis is a 6-5 PG that is big enough to play SG.

Won't McGrady be bringing the ball up a lot as well. He pretty much played "point forward" 2 years ago in a lot of games. I think with alson, JL3 and V-span we will be good.

How many times does this have to be repeated?

    1. He is 1.93 m NOT 1.92 m

    2. 1.92 m is NOT 6-3 it's 6-3 7/12 almost 6-4

    3. He is 1.93 m which is 6-4 even

    4. In Europe players are listed barefoot

    5. In Shoes he's around 6-5, he's the same size as Sura/Jon Barry

He did not grow 2 inches he's just taller than people think much like "6-2 JJ Redick" who is actually 6-5.

    Actually 1.92 m is 6-3 7/12

    1.93 m is 6-4 even

Spanoulis is 6-4 even (see below)

    http://www.paobc.gr/en/player.asp?type=p&year_id=56&player_id=95

and yes again players in Europe are listed without shoes on

In other words Spanoulis is 3 inches taller than Banks, quite a difference at the PG spot.

    That's an old measurement

Also 1.92 m is NOT 6-3 how many times does this need to be stated?

    1.92 m = 6-3 7/12

    1.93 m (Spanoulis' height) = 6-4 even

again in Europe they list without shoes on.

ummm lets see Bowen definately has to go and Sura might be done. Lampe also sucks and doesnt do much. That should free up 3 roster spots :)

alright man, I'm on your side on this one, but you gotta take it easy. He corrected himself in his original post. 6'4" barefoot is his true height.

Let's not turn this into J.J Redick debate #2, he's got enough size to play both guard positions, the question is whether he has the abilities.

Didn't CD just about a week ago say Lampe was cut, Bowen picked up his option and will be on the team and Sura is likely going to play?

I may be wrong but I thought he said that in an interview about a week ago, so 2 of those roster spots are taken apparently.

And seriously, you could not trade them so they are there.

However Bowen's buyout would be SMALL so they should just cut him.........

BUT remember cheap a$$ Rockets seem to cheap to even do something like that to get rid of Bowen already.

No no I;m not, I;m just trying to point out.............

For some reason SOME players get labeled way shorter than they are.

Redick was 6-2, Spanoulis is 6-3

but both are actually 2 inches bigger than Head and same height as Sura.

My point is so many posters here crapped on Redick because he was "way too short" and some are already doing it to Spanoulis and this idea he could play SG.

I'm just trying to explain to people he's about 2 inches bigger than they think.

And also it seems few people realize the transfer from meters or centimeters into inches cuts off some height because the NBA just rounds that height off.

They also don't seem to realize that other foreign leagues don't go by shoe height.

So relatively speaking the Euro's are bigger than people think. And the NBA listing doesn't matter because of above.

They convert the height (often wrongly) then often round it wrongly (down rather than up) than forget that in Europe players are listed barefoot.

Andres Nocioni is 2.03 m barefoot, yet the NBA listed him at 6-7 with shoes on.

So people are thinking this guy is about 6-6, when he's more like 6-9.

Which is why people are so impressed by his rebounding, when in actuality he's just way bigger than people think.

i really hope the rockets can land marcus banks. he is a decent shooter and a great defender. quicker pgs were penetrating our defense at will last year, and signing him would go a long way to alleviate that problem
