Why does Chicago even think of asking us to trade Bonzi for Sweetney???

Either they are really really stupid, or they think we are really really stupid.

What they should offer is Duhon. They don't really even need him, but have a deep need for a true post threat.

If Francis is released after the deadline, can we still sign him?

yes, but there's another issue about players being eligible for the playoffs which i'm not too clear about.

If NY plans on cutting Francis i'm assuming their strategy was to wait for the deadline to pass and pray that somebody stupid enough to take on his contract comes calling. Now that the deadline has passed I guess we'll have to wait and see what happens.

Earlier in the day Burns from www.SI.com reported the trade for James was likely to happen. Steve Novak and a draft were mentioned, and though I don't know why, I'm sure the thought of trading Novak horrifies some of you. For whatever reason the trade didn't happen, as we all know. I think James is a good player, but who would you rather have on the court in the 4th quarter...James or Head? I also prefer Alston on the floor over James in the 4th, because he protects the ball better and get the ball where it counts...McGrady (and soon Ming).

Luther Head is the kind of guy that brings intangibles (clutch three point shooting) that leads to championships. If having James on the roster was going to mean less minutes for Head and Alston, then I'm not sure how it would've helped. I'm a bigger fan of Alston than some of you. He's a better complimentary player than James, who is a score first kind of guy. I remember in the series with the Mavs a couple years ago, James started to take the ball up the court late in the 4th quarter. McGrady gave him the "you'd better give me that ball" look. Alston would've already know that.

I think people have been tossing around this word too much ever since we acquired Battier. Seriously now... how is three point shooting an "intangible"?

It's a no brainer, I would take James over Luther and Rafer. James has a complete game.

After he shoots he has this blank stare of confidence that can't be measured on the stat sheet.

James is a good change of pace guard. He is not a point guard. We will need to keep Rafer to get James, because I believe our offense will look horrible with just James.

BTW ... Didn't he get benched?

I think James is better than Rafer, but Head? Head is an up and coming player. James can help us for a year or two, but we need someone in FA or someone in the draft that can help us out.

You're right. It is an overused word. I just mean that he's the kind of guy that when you look back on a championship season you realize that you couldn't have won it without him. I just finished watching the entire 1994 Finals series (I got it for Christmas). The fact of the matter is that the Rockets were not a very impressive team on paper. But they had a guy named Carl Herrera (check my spelling). Remember him? The Rockets do not beat the Knicks without him. He's been otherwise forgotten. Head is simply the kind of guy that will make shots to win playoff series. I'm sorry, but I wouldn't give you Head for James straight up.

is there any evidence of this? i know he's made a couple shots in the regular season to seal our wins, but he's had his fair share of decision making mishaps as well....luther's a shooter not a pg, and unfortunately that's where we're forced to play him.

You may have a point about him having to play 'pg', but it is all semantics in the 4th quarter when T-Mac often brings the ball down the court. Head's 4th quarter shooting and 3pt. shooting is evidence enough. Plus he can attack the basket with authority as well. He's been a winner in college, and I believe (based on the evidence we've seen so far) that he will be in the playoffs. Plus, he's only in his second year. I bet Mike James was not playing this well in his second year. He is just the fearless type that a team needs.

Not to piss in Heads Milk, but that guy is about as erratic as it gets for me. His 4th quarter decision making the last two games has been about as bad as it could possibly be, and his BBall IQ is seriously in question in general. I like the kids Heart, but skill assests are far from untouchable.

That's fine. But when the guy hits a shot in a playoff series that gives you flashbacks to Mario Elie in Phoenix, just remember I told you so! ;)
