I don' know, if Troy Daniels is dropping ~48% of his treys and Daniels may only be hitting ~35%, I don't think he moves Daniels anywhere.

Canaan is the player IMO, that is most at risk of not getting into the rotation due to Johnson. Canaan never really hit his 3's last season wen the Rockets gave him any opportunities. Canaan is not a particularly good facilitator and his defense sucks. IMO, if Johnson comes in as advertised with his defense, then I see him as probably the 1st player off of the bench at the PG position.

    Starters:

    Beverly
    Harden
    Parsons
    TJones
    Howard

    Rotation subs:

    Nick Johnson
    Troy Daniels
    Trevor Ariza
    DMo

    Remaining Bench:

    Omri Casspi
    Josh Powell
    Clint Capela
    Isaiah Canaan
    Robert Covington

That leaves the Rockets with one roster spot. It would be nice if they spent it on a proven back up big like Emeka Okafor or Jermain O'Neal.

I don't agree with that but even if I did....

    Parsons + Ariza + Daniels > Ariza + Daniels + Dunleavy

I'm not sure why we are even mentioning Dunleavy anyway, he is not in play by Chicago.

I hope we don't give up to much for Troy. We still really don't know if he's good.

Canaan will compete with Johnson for minutes at the backup point.
We do need one more big body inside to back up Dwight.
DMo and TJones will decide who starts based on who can defend the post and hit the outside shot best. I'm like DD; I'm rooting for DMo because he's more of the prototype for a potential stretch four, and his ceiling is thus higher.

Goran was let go because at the time we did not have a star player and needed flexibility to obtain one down the road. You guys have revisionist history. Morey has 2 philosophies for building the team. One is before he has a star and the other is after he has a star. The problem with a 4th year PO is if he sucks he picks up the option and you are stuck with a bad contract. If he is good he opts out send you have to raise his salary significantly. If Dragic was a FA after we had acquired Harden he would gotten his PO. It was all about the timing. And you guys are crazy if you think Dragic puts up these numbers in a backcourt next to Harden. Dragic and Lin need the ball in their hands to be most successful and I suspect Dragic would not avg 20 a game next to Harden. Only one basketball.

Goran would have been the point guard we needed. It's not his PPG average but the way in which he would have scored. He would easily average 15 plus a game for the Rockets.

I understand completely why DM did it, but at this point its pretty safe to say that his strategy did not work. I'm not knocking the guy that brought us D12 and Harden but no one is perfect. I think if you asked DM even he would tell you it was probably a mistake to not give Goran the player option and bring him back.

His one job: space the floor

Guy hit 240 3s in 42 games in the D-League & oh yeah, hit a game winner in OT during a road playoff game

    I think he'll be fine for 12-15 min/ gm

This. His shooting alone makes him good enough to be a rotation player in this league.

There will be no comp between Nick Johnson and Canaan.
Knowing Mchale like we do.....he will love NJ.
    Nick wins that battle easily.
He is bigger ,stronger, just a fast, plays way better D,can guard 1-2,can shoot, and is a better passer. Nick Johnson is a dog.

As for Dmo starting over Jones.......forget about it.

From what I read Daniels wants to be here and are in discussions to get it done. He knows with his type of game that he can do well here. Just have to take the low ball offer Morey will hand him.

is it really this low for Rockets? Troy Daniels, a D-leaguer, acts like he is next Ray Allen with this "lebron wants me" non-sense.

You usually don't find future HOF'ers on the trash heap. It's a bit of a stretch to say he'll be the next Ray Allen.
