Well, seeing as his eyes are a little... off, maybe it's a depth perception issue. T-Mac THINKS he's closer to the others than he is.
Did you guys know that night club, The Paradise, T-Mac and others went? That's the most expensive night club in Shanghai or Beijing. Clubs like that in Shanghai have more than 1,000 girls there, all great looking girls and it costs big bucks. $800.00 to $1,000.00 U.S. for an all nighter. I guess none of the Rockets would dare to take any girls out this time. But sure hope they had a lot of fun. You can't find a place like that in the U.S.
Of course Ewing is all dressed up and ready to hit the nightspots with the players. I guess they have Gold Clubs in China, too.
Oh man, all of a sudden i realized, The Paradise, literally translated- "Heaven on Earth" is the same Heaven on Earth Chris Tucker was always trying to get in in Rush Hour 2! Remember that scence when they bring out like 50 chinese chicks and they're like, "take your pick", I'm sure Tmac and co saw the movie and wanted to have that experience.
They were indeed in Hong Kong in Rush Hour II. And prostitution is definitely illegal in China, but sort of a "see no evil" policy is generally applied unless it becomes especially outrageous. A lot of high-class nightclubs (especially those catering to overseas customers) have working girls, and for the blue collar workers... there are many hair salons without much hair-cutting equipment. Prositution is legal in Hong Kong, Singapore, and Taiwan (at least until a couple of years ago)... indicating that within traditional Chinese culture, there was never a tremendous social stigma against prostitution. That changed with the Communists, but old habits die hard. I would say that prositution (and their cousins: strip shows) are far more prevalent in the United States than it is in China.
