Fine. I overstated on Asik. Apparently Duncan lite is not even something Asik can achieve. In this I bow to your wisdom because its probably true. I used Spurs because of the Manu - Harden and Parker - Lin comparison (which I know some of you will disagree). Probably could have chose a better example but meh Spurs game was on my mind. "Suggesting the Rockets can be a dynasty when they haven't even shown the ability to win a championship is about the stupidest thing you could say." This I disagree. Maybe I am being stupid on this but I choose to believe its possible for this Rockets. It's just my opinion. Again, its highly unlikely. But why not?
I'm all for this group winning a playoff game before talking about serious post season runs. Then I'm for a serious post season run before talking about title contention. Then I like winning a title before talking about the potential for two titles in three years. But yeah, if all the above happens talking about dynasty potential could be really fun.
Miami Heat headed for a dynasty? San Francisco Giants headed for a dynasty? Alabama Crimson Tide headed for a dynasty? FIFY Sorry, the Rockets are currently not headed for a dynasty.
because that's what makes Clutchfans different than any other forum or fan site on the Internet. saying "why not?" and "a fan can dream" willy nilly while defending your point just won't cut it 'round here. i applaud your passion, and positivity, sir.
I'm gonna balance out this thread a little and be positive. Idk y everyone on here has to be so vitriolic....I think it's a decent question and yes I believe there is enough talent on here to develop to a contender.... However right now I'm surprised we are winning. Ours bigs are so raw. Totally different team after 2pat and MM left.
I consider there to have only truly been 3 dynasties: Russel's Celtics, Magic's Lakers, and Jordan's Bulls. I can only hope the young Rockets can one day reach this, but it is unlikely. We are going to need a better coaching staff and another star. Dynasties are highly uncommon.
To add to that, how about getting out of the first round? I wouldn't declare us a dynasty until we see some improvements in the playoffs.
Lol. We might. But look at it this way. 1) This time last year what were your expectations? 2) What about the beginning of the season? 3) What about before the all star break? I will tell you mine. 1) lottery pick 2) 10th place if we are lucky 3) 8th if we are lucky They have surprised and exceeded our expectations at every juncture. Lets hope they do so again.
It seems premature to talk dynasty before we should even be in the championship contender conversation - but looking at the standings today, I couldn't help but wonder if our Rockets would be the 2nd seed if we they were in the Eastern Conference. Our Rockets are just a few games behind seeds 2-4 in the East, and I think it safe to say that if they were in the East they would have easily won 3-5 more games. Maybe more. Am I crazy? Regardless, it seems safe to say that this team, the youngest in the NBA, is one of the 10 best teams in the league. And that's really exciting.
I think Bama already is a dynasty. Also, I hate Bama. OP, Morey needs another star player for this team to be legit contender. Depending on what he gives up to get one we may need more role players. If we sign one in the offseason without losing any big pieces, we are contenders. Lets focus on contending every year. We need a couple rings before we talk about dynasties.
Really? I'm sorry but a dynasty is more than a couple playoff trips to me. You have to be ruling the NBA to be a dynasty.
No, you're not crazy. We could definitely challenge for #2 in the East. But that's a worthless measuring stick, as no one considers NY or Indiana contenders. The East is just Miami and a bunch of wannabes.
