I never saw too many Grizz games. Has anyone here seen him play a lot (besides this year)?

Is this basically all that he is?

    thx!

Well, I paid for League pass and I watch every single game from start to finish and there has been time when he's shown flashes of what he can be, esp. during the long road trip, he had a couple of very good showings.

I dont know....I still want to see him play with a consistent 30 minutes for atleast a few games before I give my final decision. Why isnt he allowed to play through this for 30 min a night. Cant hurt like last night when T-mac left, we all knew that game was gone.

Goofy is OK in the nickname department. WHo was the girl in Clueless? Could be a nickname. My wife watches the games and now calls him "Clueless"

An interestinf exercise is to just watch Swift and complie a list of positive plays vs negatice plays. Holy Cow, like 5 negative plays to one positive. My personal least favorite is try to go up strong, but loose control of the ball play. Sometime the ball is lost low, sometime it flys away. His hands must be every bit as strong as his head.

He finally seemed to have found his niche between Yao and T-mac during that road trip. But once Yao went down, Swift's role changed and he hasn't been able to find his way. I still think that Swift can be a good role player between our two stars.

P.S. If there's anybody that could use some tips from Hakeem, it's Swift. He can actually pass pretty well, and he has shown flashes of a good jump-hook, but his footwork stinks. A drop-step and a shoulder-fake would do wonders for his game.

By default, while Yao is out he should get 5-10 minutes more per game, only problem is he is no center even in a small lineup and will only look more inept than he has already. If this Josh Davis replaces Swift in the depth chart than stick a fork in Swifts career with the Rox.

Swift needs to find a nice niche between pretty dumb and not-too-dumb. Right now the scale is tipping towards pretty dumb. If he can just stay calm and focus he can be a solid not-too-dumb player for us. That is the key.

I see Swift trying to be a back to the basket post player now that he's in Houston and that's one thing he has never been. Remember when he was effective against us with the Grizz is because he used his speed advantage and drove to the basket for a lay-up or a dunk. He can do this for us to if we let him face the basket and bring his man away from the basket a bit or run in a fast break which is maybe once or twice a game for the Rockets. He's trying to be what JVG believes a PF should be and not what he is. He's just like Yao in that he has so much potential that we don't use.

The truth is JVG's system is not good for Swift, but hey join the club because besides T-Mac, who gets to do what ever he wants to, what other Rocket can you say has blossomed into a better player under JVG. I'm not blaming JVG completely but he continues to insist that the square peg fits in the round hole no matter what.

Like I mentioned, it's about letting the game come to you. He tries way too hard to make something happen out there. He gets carried away trying to make the spectacular defensive play that results in a foul or trying to work the post resulting in him shuffling his feet, etc etc.

Sure, the guy has low basketball IQ but saying something dubious like, "The guy is incapable of thinking!" and assuming you've just stated a legit point need to think again.

Totally agree with you about his footwork, when he about to start a move it seems like he knows what he wants to do but doesn't quite know how to get there.

I think Stro will be fine once we get our full assortment of players back.

Finally, a game that we can be proud of him about. Man if he hit that last layup, all the trade stromile threads would stop and the Head sucks threads would start up.

1-10? thats pretty bad. Hopefully its just a slump that hes going through. But I still have not seen him use that athleticism that I have heard so much about to penetrate.
