are they still going to be the Grizzlies? I hope not I swear the NBA has some of the most f'ed up names for teams, especially franchises that have relocated --LA Lakers when it should be Minnesota --Utah Jazz when it should be New Orleans - I think the the current N.O. team needs to change to the Jazz name while Utah gets a new name --Memphis Grizzlies, since when did Grizzlies ever live in Tennessee?
It's supposed to be the Memphis Express. (Get the link with Federal Express). Or at least that's what it would be when they released it a couple pf years ago, but decided not to immediately change it. The logo looks (looked) like a train coming forward from the right. They didn't change it because the league shot it down because it would set a bad precedent - with a team being named after a company.
tigereye, WOW, great post! Very interesting to see all of those new uniforms. What is "dryfit" exactly? And do you know what style "cut" the jerseys will be? It was mentioned that Reebok is making the jersey and they made the 76ers jerseys so is our jersey cut going to be like the 76ers? Or will it be more traditional like the Spurs. Personally I really like the nike cut jerseys that Toronto, Lakers and Mavs wear. I think those are the best jersey cuts. Glad to see the positive comments on the Rockets uniforms. "Crimson and silver" nice colors! What's with all the "grey" alternate uniforms? Guess that is the style these days. Those Denver uniforms you mentioned sound awful! Sounds like the UCLA Bruins or something. Carolina Spiders? Gawd I hope not. Stick with the Carolina Cougars (their color choices sound interesting though). The Orlando jerseys sound interesting. I don't see why Utah don't change their name.. their bound to lose both their allstar's and they've never won a championship.. so there won't be much history left to look at, time for a new start.. and can i ask why alot of teams are making an alternate grey jersey... the colour doesn't look that good
First off, if you want an example of "dryfit" fabric take a look at the new Comets jersey thread I posted in the "other sports teams, i.e. Texans, Comets........" it has a before and after of the old and new Comets jersey. The old jersey is a glossy fabric the Rockets use for there current jerseys. the new Jersey is made of "Dryfit material." "Dryfit" is also used by a number of teams already like the Raptors, Lakers Pistons, Mavs..........its that non-shiny material that doesnt get soaked with players sweat. Its the material of choice by players in the NBA and appearntly by the Rockets players too. Second, as for all the grey uni's, alot of them are still in the designing stages so some of them might not make it this year like San Antonio. Grey is being used because it is mainly another color that is in these teams color schemes with the exception of the Bulls. God knows why they are even thinking about using grey as a color for a uni. I havent heard much about the "cut" of the Rockets jersey. Then again, no one has heard much about the rockets new jersey period. I have heard that some of the design templates called for a "swingman cut" currently use the the Raptors and Lakers and a "street cut" used by the Sixers. who knows. Finally, it looks like the Grizz will stay witht there current name. thats the believed preference of current owner Micheal Heistley (dont have the correct spelling of his name). There is still an outside chance the team could change its name, but it is highly unlikely. It would have happened two years ago when they had the chance to start with a clean slate.

I know this thread is old and dead, but now its time to revive it with some hardcore proof of new logos we can expect. These are possible prelim designs of a Sixers new logo I found at phoenix design works. Not sure if it is the new logo though

Wow. Abe Lincoln with a basketball. A boring presidential seal-looking thingy. A sorta ripoff of the Tennessee Titans logo. A flame and torch spelling out something you can hardly read. Boy do those 76ers designs suck ass.
