Rudy Gay is good but not great.
Motie? He could turn out to be David Andersen 2.0, they apparently play the exact same way.

Yes, but GMs have to be emotionless machines. Thats how they part with the players they acquire.

LOL, I get that but the kid is only 21. There is no telling what kind of player he will be eventually. Maybe the next David Anderson, maybe the next Dirk. That's what's so intriguing about him and why I'd hate to see us give up on him before he even plays a minute in the NBA.

The Rudy Gay thing has been discussed too much, so I'll leave that alone. Probably shouldn't have even brought it up. :)

I'm just not impressed with Morey's evaluation of FOREIGN talents. Andersen was a bust, Spanoulis was a bust, given his track record I'm a bit shaky on how well Motie is going to do in the NBA.

He hit it big with Scola though too bad he's already in decline.

That's what I'm afraid of... everyone is always better (in everyone's mind) before they ever touch a basketball court. POTENTIAL should not be in the equation. Do-nuts should not be a deal breaker if he couldn't even break our lineup last year.

Just repeating what Egghead and HMM have already said :p

Houston has been talking to the Kings for several days about what it would take to get the 5th pick. Never a discussion about a Tyreke-Lowry swap. It was about picks or another young player or two. For example, Sac has interest in the rights to Donatas Motiejunas. I think you have to temper it this time of year and understand this is what Houston is trying to do but may not accomplish it. Credit to Morey. He is collecting assets. Whether he pulls it off, I don't know but is trying as hard as [anyone][any GM] I've seen.

Rockets do like Drummond at 5. He could be a franchise player if he gets it. All the physical tools. He'll be a good NBA player even if he tries a little bit. I'm not concerned about his bust potential because he is a rare physical commodity. Better than Kwame or Darko or Hasheem athletically. That makes a difference.

I don't think anyone's really said he's a dealbreaker, just that there's a preference to keep him over other players.

If the Rockets' goal is to quickly become elite, Motiejunas is of little significance when compared to the overall purpose, and therefore able to be abandoned.

Exactly! I love D-Mo's potential, but he is not a dealbreaker.

Lets do it. Tyreke Evans and sign someone else. Maybe even Tyreke Evans, Dwight Howard, and Deron Williams.

    You sound surprised.

Did you not know on ClutchFans ...

    Drummond > Dwight Howard
    Kyle Lowry ≥ Deron Williams
Chandler Parsons = white Lebron James
Marcus Morris = Carmello Anthony with better defensive potential
Montejunas = 2nd coming of Dirk.

That's fine. If we can make a deal with Sacremento and add Patterson to sweetin it up so something like Lowry, Patterson, 14 and 16 for Evans and 5. At 5 we draft Drummond. Then at 18 we can draft Marshall if he's still on the board, if not we can look towards Tyshawn Taylor. If they don't want a rookie backup PG, then they can look to add a guy like Quincy Miller for support at the 3 or Perry Jones III if he drops like some are speculating. Or we can draft Fournier and stash him in Europe along with Llull. So moving forward we would have.

    Dragic/rookie PG or FA PG
    Evans/Lee
    Parsons/Morris
    Scola/Motiejunas/Morris
    Camby/Drummond/Motiejunas

Not a bad squad moving forward with a base of Dragic, Evans, Parsons, Morris, Motiejunas and Drummond moving forward along with whatever we do at 18.

    FIFY.
    You forgot:
A steaming pile of dog**** ≥ Kevin Martin, Budinger, and now even Lowry combined.

We got Andersen for a second-round pick and cash. I'm pretty sure Morey didn't expect much from him. It's too early to say, but Llull and Motiejunas both look like good prospects.

We haven't had much to be excited about in the past few years. I like Donuts, but the guy is going to need a lot of development and his defense is still a big question mark. If we can flip him for a high pick this year then I am all for it.

I'd love to see him develop as a Rocket, but his POTENTIAL is a great trade chip.

Yeah, except Andersen got forced into our offense rotation and, other than that one lucky Lakers game, killed us.

Lee...I can't say I've paid too much attention to Tyreke lately. Does he play defense well? I remember he had an obscene wingspan for a guard like close to 7 feet, but I didn't know if he actually could defend. Either way, I'm in your camp. I think he is an interesting prospect (the kid is only 22) who might improve a ton with a legit PG like Dragic.

    Dragic > Lowry

I think Evans would play 2 guard here with some back up PG time.
