IMO, any trade that gets rid of Padget is a good one :) .

can I ask a dumb question??

    okay thanks.

What the heck difference does it make where he's from? I don't give a rats patootie if he's from the outer rings of Saturn if he can play basketball.

It's just good to have someone in the wings who is tall and can take up space in the paint should heaven forbid another of our "big" men go down.

Now if we want to chase the pipedream of another point guard the Rockets have a more level roster to work deals around.

I will miss seeing Scott cheering on the sideline and hopefully he can get some playing time as a vet at Memphis.

I agree with you Hayesfan :)

If memory serves, and it hasn't been mentioned, wasn't Jake originally our draft pick but involved in the Collier swap in 2000?

Edit: Never mind, I'm thinking of Pryzbilla.

Rockets have 3 players over 7 feet at the same time!!!!
Why not put "Big Two" at the same time...
"Big Two" will make home powerful , if can be...
Having 3 players over 7 feet at the same time but not using "Big Two" is so Strange.

We want to watch "Big Two"

There's a positive to this trade that hasn't been mentioned. Big Jake has actually played Yao pretty well when they've played each other. Yao still got his, but Big Jake made him work harder. Just getting him off a division rival (defined liberally) is a nice bonus.

He wants the Rockets to play two of Yao, Deke, and JT on the floor at the same time, with one of them in the PF position (like the twin towers with Dream and Ralph or Timmy D and the Little Mermaid).

in short term, JT does provide a lil bit help for the front court. but i doubt he can helps tat much. in long term, since tatz the best we could do for the TE, now we have an additional 3M expiring contract, which is way better than TE, buz we can combine it w/ other contracts or picks to trade for what we really need. following r the expiring contracts tat we have:
    Chuck Hayes $664,209 1
    Dikembe Mutombo $2,210,000 1
    Bob Sura $3,840,000 2
    Jake Tsakalidis $2,900,000 1

    Bonzi Wells $2,115,000 1

A lot of fast guards and small forwards will blow their socks off! Not really a very smart idea. dream is more of PF/C type of player that will fit in right with Ralph on the floor.

Uh... I was referring to people who both weigh more than 20 pounds and aren't strained when trying to lift Kleenex. Novak could never, ever fill in at center. ;)

Except you can't trade a recently acquired player in a package with other players from your team. An expiring contract just acquired is not more flexible than a TE.

Big Jake is a Rocket at least through this summer.

And I really doubt we make another move, certainly not with a rotation player (Wells/Deke/Hayes) leaving.

i think he is tradable immediately, buz he was required by TE which has no trade restriction, according to espn.com, maybe i m wrong, can anyone confirm that?

I don't think the above is correct.

    http://www.realgm.com/src_trade_restrictions.php

    Also see point #85 http://members.cox.net/lmcoon/salarycap.htm#67

Big Jake can be traded out, but not with other players. So he could be used to acquire a player(s) in salary ranging from a little less than 3 mil to about 4 million.

But I don't think we trade him. We got him to use him until Yao is close to full force, where then he sits on the bench unless Deke or Howard are unavailble. We could also also sign him next year if Deke retires, probably not otherwise.
