Tsakalidis is in the NBA because he still is on his rookie contract (last season).

Schensher was a leading player for them and even though they got owned in the final by Emeka he personally played well.

He's been in the NBA for 6 years. He's gotten a contract beyond his rookie deal.

My impression of that GT team was that it was led by the guard play of Jarrett Jack, BJ Elder, and Will Bynum. Schenscher was just sort of along for the ride and if they could get production out of him, so much the better.

Not really a bad move here I'd say. Padgett contributed nothing to our team, at least JT fills a pseudo-need for our team, another big presense inside to give Deke relief and make sure Hayes and Juwan can focus on PF duties. Hey, maybe sometimes for a laugh we can put JT at PF and have our two interior guys be 7'2 and 7'5 respectively. I'm sure that sounds more intimidating than it would really be but I guarantee you that we're gonna get more out of JT than we ever did out of Padgett.

I like Padgett, he was a pretty decent player once upon a time, and seems like a class guy all the way, but JT gives us someone who will at least contribute to W/L record of the team. Who knows, maybe JT will flourish with the rockets and will do well in spot minutes or certain situations. JT is still relatively young and has shown flashes of promise in the past. What he certainly will bring is an added interior presence that will greatly benefit us when Yao or Deke rest, plus when teams go big we can try to work him into specializing in getting his minutes during those situation.

We did need a backup PG more, and I'm still scared of the consequences of losing Skip for an extended period (I say we just straight up start Tracy at PG with Bonzi starting at SG) but at least this trade addressed one of our more urgent needs, and we were able to address that need without really giving up anything. Here's to hoping JT plays an important and necessary role in many championship runs.

...Good luck though, Scott, we'll miss you.

Houston Big Man Training Program >>>>>>>>>>>>>>> anybody else in the league. Plus, we have Deke, JHo, and Yao to help him.

How can anyone b**** about this trade?

It doesn't put us over the top, but it definitely doesn't hurt us. If anything it helps strengthen a weak position. JT isn't a slouch. He is BIG and can score around the basket. Padgett was contributing nothing to this team, so I like this minor deal.

Who cares about "unproven talent for the future" when you're trying to win NOW. Good trade for the Rockets, we need extra size evenfor when Yao returns.

Thats exactly how it was done. Now we have a smaller trade exception. Might not be a bad trade for the future, we now have a backup big for when Deke does eventually retire in 2008-2009

Smart trade. Weakens a thin position. Jake can actually see court time where as Scott was pretty much done here.

I'll give Scott credit for some good hustle games in his last stint here.

... and yeah, it doesn't hurt that Jake's Greek. ;)

Padgett was traded using the Minimum Salary Player exception. I don't know if a TE was generated but to teams don't need one anyway to offload MSP's.

If his hands are any better than Hayes or Mutombo I'll gladly take it.

    I'm good with this Trade
Tsakalidis IMO may be like Milicic [Sp?] in Orlando
This is his time to prove he belongs in the league or not

    He has two great teachers
If you cannot Learn from Yao and Deke . .. . You need to be back in Greece
playing against them in practive everyday should help.
