The Rockets now have the best Greek 1-2 punch in the NBA.

That obese dude at the Toyota Center with the Greek flag is going to have work overtime in garbage minutes when Spanoulis and Tsakalidis get in the game.

See you Scotty. Good luck in Memphis.

This year the playoff roster is 13, 12 of which can active in any one game. The last 2 roster spots are inactive for all the playoffs.

    1Tmac
    2Yao
    3Battier
    4Alston
    5Head
    6Howard
    7Wells
    8Deke
    9Hayes
    10Snyder
    11JL3
    12JT
    13Novak
    14VSpan
    15Sura

Well, I guess JT probably will be active. Sura plus either Novak or VSpan will be off the playoff roster. But unless Yao, Deke and Howard are not healthy (probably 2 of them unhealthy in fact), JT will never see the floor.

I would have rather got a vet PG to be in the 9th or 10 rotation spot if not higher.

    Good trade.

And Tsakalidis is a lucky guy,

    1) If he works hard enough, he can learn a lot from Yao and Deke.
    2) He got a fellow countryman as his teammate.
    3) He may get a CHAMPIONSHIP RING by sitting on the bench!!!

    4) Our fellow clutchfans will fight each other to death for him to play more minutes. :D

7'2" I believe. So now we have three 7+ footers on our roster. :) I hate to see Padgett go because he is such a good locker room guy and one of the best cheerleaders on the team. He genuinely cheers for the rockets even though he's not getting any minutes unlike our Greek T-Mac. :D See you around Scotty! On the other hand, Tsakalidis is another true center we can use to give Deke some rest while Yao is out. We can also use him at PF when the rockets really want to go big. I don't think he's that bad of a player. We'll see when he plays.

    good trade
Padgett won't see any min anyway...
on the other hand, we can always use a warm 7'2 body. Can't expect Deke to play 30+min every game, we will need him in the playoff.

Thanks, I thought the playoff roster would be the same as the regular season. That's strange how the league changes the roster size in the playoffs.

Well, you know I was hoping for somebody take more time from Rafer. ;) I didn't think we would get anything decent for the TE. I can't recall any team ever getting a decent player for the TE besides Kirk Snyder and the Rockets. I just never hear of any teams aggressively pursuing trade exceptions to desperately get under the cap. It's mostly sportwriter's(like the Chron's last article) hype with those trades. The only way I see us getting a good back up PG is with Bonzi or Kirk. Those are our most valuable assets outside of T-Mac, Yao and Battier. I don't see anybody interested in Sura for cap relief.

I also like the idea that JVG can't play Padgett over Novak any more. More minutes for Novak in garbage time.

Wait I thought they changed it so that you can pick any group of players before each and every specific game?

I could of sworn I remember seeing Phil Jackson and David Stern talking about that.

If Jake plays it'll be good, but if he's staying put on the bench. That extra 2M in salary could've been better spent in a more needy position.

I don't understand this logic. The Rockets can't keep playing Chuck and Howard at center against bigger teams. I know Jake isn't great, but he isn't a bum. Last year when he played 20+ minutes, he averaged something like 10 ppg, 8rpg, and 1 block (saw it from CCR). I think that's great. Jake isn't going to get big minutes when Yao comes back but he is definately insurance in case Deke goes down.

We are relatively a short team, and the TE wasn't to land us gold, therefore we have to settle for the needs of this team.

As I posted if he plays then good, but if he doesn't play and someone like Lucas continues to get minutes...

Even then, is better than having Scotty on the bench.

Just think about it, as our current roster stands who would you rather have warming the bench:

    Scotty or Jake

Lets just say the TE couldn't have landed anyone else, only Jake. Will you still take Scotty over Jake, even if he isn't playing.

Think about possible injuries to frontcourt. Deke's recent playing time. Deke's recent complain about left knee tendinitis. Think about 30 games still left to play, and Yao not coming back till probably early to mid march. Think about every possible factor of any team in the league having an advantage over us, due to size. Then answer the question.

I believe getting Jake was a great move. It will be an even greater move it we follow it up with getting Chucky Atkins before the trade deadline. We used our trade exception for Jake, now use Sura's to get Atkins and we are set for the remainder of the season and the playoffs. All holes are filled.

He can play almost immediately. It's a month before Yao is back and we have no backup center for Deke until then. Also Deke is 40 years old and could go down with an injury at any time. This is far better than just rolling the dice on that IMHO.

Good trade. Even better is Jake want to play here, that's a good sign:
"I feel good," Tsakalidis said. "It's a good team and it's a good change for me."

Usually players that are in the NBA are preferable to (i.e. better than) those that are not...

I don't even think Schenscher was very good at Georgia Tech.

While I think our #1 need was and still is backup 1 and we could have made it thru the season with current 5 situation, I like the trade. I'd rather have our 3rd string center be 7-2 than 6-9 or 6-6.

Besides Jake is improving, has the right attitude & hustles. He's also the same age as Yao, TMac & Battier.
