disappointed? not once have anyone in th rox org said pg was a priority. not only hae they even not said it, they haven't even hinted at it.

you and others who THINK rox should get a PG, don't whine when they don't get one.

Tsakalidis will be more useful than Padgett has been. This trade is good for that reason.

Agreed. Scotty boy wasn't doing anything anyway, this way at least we get someone who is immediately serviceable and needed.

Kinda sucks losing Padgett tho, his part in the Rocks Christmas carol was really funny, seems like a nice fun guy to have around.

I've like Scotty's game before. I've never liked Tsakilidis' play; he's that terrible. He's too slow, likes to foul, and is weak on both ends of the floor. But hey, I guess he's a warm body at center so he does more for us than Scotty would have.

    Welcome aboard, Jake!

Nice to have 6 hard fouls to give at the center position when the Rockets play the Mavs. Jake will be just what Deke needs a true center. How tall is this guy anyways??

i have to dissagree. yes, he's slow. but yao and deke aren't exactly allen iverson either.

he's by no means weak on both ends of the court. his rebound and block numbers per minute are good. he will definitely clog the paint on defense (exactly what we need in JVG's system). he also has a nice touch around the basket.

yao ming junior, he aint, but he's a very good 3rd string center. even a decent backup center (since yao plays 38MPG).

Don't they use a 15 man roster for the playoffs? Doesn't every team use their full roster?

I don't understand the trade. I'm not saying Tsakalidis sucks or anything. But....

We really just don't need another center. When Yao returns, Deke is gonna backup back him up, not Tsakalidis. And Deke will probably be back again next year, too.

    Weird.

I think this trade makes some sense. Padgett is just sitting on the bench anyway, at least Tsakalidis gives us a big body to maybe give Deke a breather until Yao gets back, he can go in there and use his 6 fouls also.

Maybe this trade was made so VSpan would have someone to talk to at the end of the bench besides Novak?

"Yes! Another Greek player! Now I have a friend!"
"Quiet you. I'm planning to escape back to Greece during the All Star Break"

Is this team allergic to 6'11 F/C types or something? Our three centers are all lumbering 7'2+ types, and then our next-biggest guy is Juwan Howard.

    Not necessarily bad... just weird.

Actually... we do need another big body to either rack up fouls or play some decent defense. We are lucky that Deke and J. Ho. are playing at the level they are playing. It never hurts to have a total of 4 big bodies to anchor your PF/C position.

I wonder if Jake can actually man the PF position for short spurts. Has he played that position before while he was with the Grizz/Suns?

Yao is not going to be back till early or mid march. Deke is 40, his old legs can't stay fresh that long. Deke's knee is not in a very good condition now. Plus, Deke may or may not be on the Roster next term.

It's actually a good idea to have Tsakslidis now so JVG can try him for a few month to determine whether he is coachable or not. If he fits well, and Deke decides to retire next season, we can re-sign him. Perfect situation.

The way I see it is JT will be our 4th center--behind Yao, Deke, & Howard. He will not make the playoff roster if we are healthy, and will only get much PT if we lose 2 of those 3. Not that he isn't usefull right now (with Yao out), but not the highest priority, you really only need 2 centers for the playoffs. I guess if he can cut into Deke minutes until Yao gets back so Deke is fresher for the playoffs that is something, but not a great utility. To put it bluntley I would expected a regular rotation player or an asset (draft pick) for a 4 mil TE, not simply an 11th or 12th man.

It would be crazy if they didn't try to add one. It (adding a PG to share duties with Alston) was in fact our primary offseason goal post the Battier trade (focus on Mike James). The two flyers we tried (JL3/ VSpan) are clearly not ready for major regular season PT, let alone playoff PT, we are left with an overburdened Alston and an out of position Head.

Right now we are screwed if Rafer or Head break down or have deer in the headlights look in the playoffs, and Head can only play the 1 with Tmac on the floor. That is so much pressure on Alston/Tmac/Head.

Unlike the C spot, where we can get by with Howard or even Hayes spotting minutes there after Yao and Deke, we have no room more error or injury in covering PG duties. I am sure our front office is well aware of it--whether they got any reasonable options via trade is another thing.
