Very smart move, especially if they did actually swap TE with Memphis. We not only get a serviceable big man with an expiring contract, but we also get to save our TE for another day. An added bonus is that he can help VSpan make the cultural adjustment.

A three in one. I'm impressed.

If I understood correctly, the new TE is much smaller.

Ours was partially used and partially expired.

The new won't be as big.

what is padgett's salary? that's what our new TE will be.

Sorry, I meant we still have a TE, not ours. But even if it's smaller, it's still a better move than letting it just expire, no? Keeps our options open.

I like the trade. Padgett became expendable the day we drafted Novak. Jake will be good to put in whenever we need to foul or to spell Yao or Deke.

good trade. Padgett was like the 10th or 11th guy. Meanwhile, Jake will automatically get minutes backing up Deke till Yao is comes back.

Next move, Bobby Sura and JLIII for Tyronne Lue?

I feel Tyronne Lue makes the best sense for us right now.

    good move CD.

why do people get upset when it's not a big name? i swear that most people here would be exactly like isaiah. sometimes you need small moves too.

jake is a BIG boy. he will help clog the paint. he's been very effective in his minutes statistically. CD got use out of the TE. jakes contract expires this summer, so if he doesn't work out he's gone.

the truth is he's a 1 month rental, he's effective, and CD didn't waste the TE. good move.

heypartner--Well, I'm speculating that they used their TE to get Padgett, which produces a new TE for us equal to Padgett's salary, and expiring one year from today.

Padgett makes the min, which makes the new TE practically worthless (maybe actually worthless because you can always acquire min players).

I am not impressed. We took a 4 min TE that we had for a year and only came up with a marginal player, a player probably not on the playoff roster at all if Yao comes back in full force. And if Yao doesn't come back in full force, we won't go far anyway.

Not a terrible trade, but we had a 4 mil TE for a whole year and only ended up in an exchange of bench fodder, players who will not play in a normal rotation.

We should have been able to acquire a regular rotation player OR a draft pick for a 4 mil TE, looks like neither. Maybe there is a wink-wink deal with Memphis to send some other asset later, because we basically allowed them to strip their roster of 2 mil and given them a 3 mil TE for an 11th or 12th man.

I will be dissappointed if we don't add a veteran PG this week, far more of a need than a #4 center.

It's not easy to make trades. People make it seem like we can just choose any player we want and get him. I think GM's in general are looking to make their teams better, but realistically some teams are not willing to give up certain players, or trade with certain teams.

Jake is pretty good, nothing great, but you have to remember, if Deke were to go down, we have Chuck at the center. Deke has been playing great, and he is certainly looking like an iron man, but you need to understand, he is 40 years old and you can't risk going the rest of the season without another big man behind Deke, more importantly, a proven veteran.

Jake doesn't have stats that jump out at you, but he isn't as horrible as many people here are trying to make him out to be.

The way I see it, we got a steal.
