The Rockets have strong interest in Daniel Gibson. http://www.foxsportsohio.com/01/24/13/Trades-take-shape-as-NBA-deadline-nears-/msn_landing.html?blockID=854235&feedID=3725
No kidding! I read that Fox column and wondered who this Daryl Morey guy was that the fellow wrote about, because he didn't resemble the Daryl Morey who's the GM of the Rockets. In an alternate universe, maybe, but not the GM parked in the Houston of our planet, our Houston Rockets.
I wanted to bump this thread for a couple reasons: 1) This article may not have been seen much because allaroundplayer could only post it in an existing thread -- he didn't have thread-creating rights in the Rockets forum (a casualty of the kneejerk reaction and Lin-fan threads, pushing us to limit thread-starting ability). I just now saw it because NIKEstrad made a reference to it, and I split it out into a separate thread. 2) Daniel Gibson is a career 41.3% three-point shooter. No offense meant to Sam Amico, but his track record is a little spotty. But it's still interesting to consider.
Gibson is much better than he is currently playing, and he can shoot the 3 ...that said, i'd rather have Douglas' outstanding perimeter defense, and Beverly has looked good in limited minutes. Hard to see this being much of an upgrade. Gibson can't seem to stay healthy either. But i do think he would do well in McHale's system since he won't have to be a prototypical PG ...which he's not.
its an expiring contract...if we can't get anyone else on an expiring contract who can help more..then why should this matter?
There would be too many distractions if he comes back here. It's best for him and others not to play here...
