Up until the trade deadline the Rockets are always going to be mentioned as talking with the Knicks... Even though the Rockets probably have no interest what so ever. It's just the common misconception by the national media that the Knicks and Rockets are good trade partners.
Exactly what I was thinking. If they have interest in Nate it's because they're trading either Brooks or Lowry.
who wants a team of stockpiled assets? Hey guys play together and try to win but you're obviously here as fodder.
If you can acquire him for nothing to send him to a third team, fine. To put him on the Rockets? Adelman and Morey won't do that.
So much for chemistry. I have too much faith in Morey that he would never try to make Robinson an actual rotation player for the Rockets.
What I mean was aquire them(obviously you'd have some interest in them) which then makes another PF expendable.. For instance, say Morey wanted J.Hill and the Knicks were willing to part with him. McGrady for Hill + fillers. Hill now makes Scola or Landry expendable, in which they can be included in another trade. Say Chris Bosh or Stoudemire? Or in this case, you'd aquire Nate, then that makes Brooks or Lowry expendable. I don't know what top notch PGs are available(if any) but then you include Brooks or Lowry in a package later on, maybe not for a PG though.
Chemistry only gets you so far. To win in this league you need great talent. Not saying Nate is the one they need, just that the Rockets need an all-star to pair up with you to have any kind of chance of winning a championship.
Huh? Brooks>>>Robinson, better passer, better shooter and better speed. Brooks is also more consistent, and plays better D than Robinson as well. The only thing Robinson has over Brooks is athletecism, and Brooks makes up for it by being quicker. As DD said, Brooks is gonna be a star in this league, and in some respects, he already is.
We'll give them T-Mac free of charge, if they don't trade us Nate Robinson. Besides, this has to be a rumor...there's no way we can use Nate.
I can see Boston willing to deal Rondo only if they can recieve Brooks in any kind of deal. Brooks would upgrade their team and so would Hayes. I know what the strategy is this season it's all about dealing away the bigger contracts, thus going as far under the cap without giving up Brooks/Landry/Budinger/Lowry in any Bosh deal. I think the question remains between that 2nd piece Iggy or Butler. Originally i'm believed Portland would also be involved, but in 'two' three team scenarios and then a seperate deal on the side. Portland is looking to possibily deal away Miller and there goal is to replace the money, replace Outlaw and take on Andersen in a Bayless swap. Rondo though, from what i remember was rumored on this very same board not too long ago earlier this season before his extension about possibily being dealt to Houston if i remember correctly. So this must be why Nate Robinson is showing up in articles as a replacement to either Houston or Boston.
exactly my thoughts... <object width="425" height="344"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/31g0YE61PLQ&hl=en_US&fs=1&"></param><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><param name="allowscriptaccess" value="always"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/31g0YE61PLQ&hl=en_US&fs=1&" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" width="425" height="344"></embed></object>
Agreed we need good players. Not agreed Nate Robinson resembles anything like an all star. He's a ball hog not fit for our system. Plus, I just don't enjoy the guy.
Assuming there's some truth to this....i wouldnt expect us to acquire nate AND keep Brooks like some implied. I think the thinking here is that Brooks' stock is very high, however, his identity is still not very clear and may never be. Like Calvin Murphy said, he needs to be directed one way or the other, either a shooting guard or point, although Murph says he'd be better point. Personally i think he's got better skills as a scorer, but he's too small for the two spot, but putting him at the point forces him to do some traditional point guard stuff, which i dont think he excels at. Plus, he doesn't consistently have that scorer's mentality and that too holds him back. So back to the trade talk...perhaps the rockets feel Nate R already is already set in that scoring role, so there will be more consistency. Remember Morey and co. like to know more or less what a player will bring. With Nate you know he's thinking scoring, with Brooks it's not always clear....Nate also jumps higher and is significnatly stronger, which helps him finish in traffic with contact, one of brooks' weaknesses. So they trade brooks if it involves Robinson and some other asset(s), but i dont think it would be brooks for nate as the centerpiece of the deal. could possibly be tmac as the center piece and brooks is bait to get nate AND more cap space than NY would give up, enabling Houston to resign lowry and scola, and still have signficant money left over for a solid smei-star player.
